I have mixed emotions about Yeo

Can he relate to the players yes

Not sure I like the defense first mentality

Well this should be interesting.

Can't say we're surprised by this. Having this out of the way should turn all the focus on roster moves now.

Could of swore I posted that I would be off the grid for a while. Was in a place with little, often no, data/cell reception. It happens when you are at 13,000 ft above sea level.

Hated his style in Minny, but maybe he has shown a willingness to change his philosophy in the interviews and will adapt like Hitch did this last year.

My initial thoughts - but I need to do a lot of work before forming my real opinion.

My gut says that I am not a fan and still am very disappointed that Stevens wanted to go in "another direction".

Also, I don't like this at all - Per Lou Korac - "Mike Yeo's contract is for four years, including signed on for three as head coach beginning in 2017-18."

Of course, this confirms what we thought about what Army did or didn't say to Muller and Shaw.

Remember Wilson was on his staff in Minnesota as well....really going to have to research this because my gut on this is not good and that this may actually regress things in St. Louis.

To me, it says he was interested but didn't want to offer the head coach position until possibly after the season.

Interested, but not convinced that either was the choice and they didn't want to hang around for maybe.

I'm not big on Yeo either, but his hands were tied at times by Minnys GM, the contract term seems right, 1 year associate and 3 years to get himself established. I highly doubt he would have accepted less term.

I'm not surprised, just disappointed. Lots of predictions coming true (make WCF, Hitch is back; Shaw gone since he was never going to be anointed as coach in waiting; Muller leaves after not getting the same nod; etc).

I wonder if this has any impact on Backes/brouwer's thoughts...

I don't have any issue with the terms of the deal. Any coach you hire worth his salt is going to expect a three year deal at the very least. Anything less than that for an established coach, he already knows he has a short leash.

If he's the right guy, I have no worries.

Too much money for one player.

Better to get get three or four fast forwards.

I thought the Blues were a better team than the Sharks but ran out of gas. But I was afraid of having to face the Penguins in the finals. When they added all that speed and soread the wealth I was afraid.

Also shows how terrible any GM with the last name Murray is. There was no reason for the Ducks to move so many really good, fast, physical, and skilled forwards as they did last year. Then they doubled down on stupid and moved one of the ones they had traded for.

Speed kills in this game. Sure having a good transition makes your team look faster but the real deal opens the game up. If the Blues had more speed a high hoister up the gut and a fast winger chasing the puck down starts pushing a gap on the Sharks ability to have their dmen agressive on the forecheck against our break out. It also allows you to get in on the forecheck. It also creates penalties. It also allows for better backchecking which frees the dmen to play the lines. It can also interfer with line changes, leaving tired players on the ice, which means higher rates of penalties, mistakes and when getting possession a dump and change.

lol. so you would move a good player and a solid player in order to take on three plus million more in salary on a player who is starting to build a pattern of injuries?

I think you downplay Malkin.

That would be a good trade. And I really like both Shattenkirk and Lehtera. (the last two jerseys I have owned)

Malkin and Tarasenko on the same line would be fun to watch. A team like the Sharks couldn't key in on Tarasenko the way they did, or they would be burned by the other guy.

A player of his caliber automatically frees up space for Tarasenko.

I would do that trade without thinking twice.

Yeah, I don't think so either. But from the Blues side, I couldn't say no to that.
