Toronto will be in a bidding war for Stamkos and that will hinder them in trying to sign other free agents. The longer it takes for Stamkos to sign the better off we are in terms of at least Toronto. Don't think for a minute though that other teams are interested in both players and if they are not signed/traded by july 1st, they may very well just walk away and we will get nothing in compensation. Draft day will be interesting. Army does not want to let players walk for nothing so it might be a sign and deal type thing, who knows.

Okposo will get paid. Just depends on how much people are willing to pay.

They could if they don't go resign Shaw. Dumping Bickells contract was a must but then they wouldn't have much room for anything else. Just heard that Malkin ltc included Chicago La Ana. 2 of those teams do not really have the cap space but that is a great player for a few more years. It might be worth it to risk it.

I expect the leafs will trade for stamkos prior to july to avoid that mess.

i still don't think the hawks have the space for shaw; if they want to improve their defense anyways.

Go in with the D they have now with minor changes and keep Shaw

Or

Upgrade the D and lose Shaw

It will be hard for them to do both IMO

and I doubt Shaw takes a hometown discount as this will likely be his biggest pay day due to his style of play.
