I'm gonna guess Talent is the reason. Just because Pelech came up first doesn't mean he is the better answer long term. Pulock is the one with the higher ceiling IMO, Both will be NHL'ers but unless they make a trade and go with two rookie Dmen which I don't think they will who does Pelech replace?

Yea sucks how many guys can be taken per team 1 or 2? I know there's combos of like 13 you can protect or a combo of forwards d goalie. I read it a while back I'm to lazy to look it up

Well on d they should protect hamonic leddy and pulock I'm not sure anyone takes boychuk with his contract and hickey and dehaan would be less of a blow to lose one. Up front who knows who will be here to protect besides jt although one would assume Lee strome nelson barzal if he makes it

Pretty sure it's 7 forwards, 3 d and 1 goalie, or 8 skaters and a goalie. Plus any player who has played in the ahl this year would be available to be claimed as well if the expansion draft was two summers from now. Can only lose 1 per expansion team but that means we're going to lose a good player.

Boychuk may have to be protected if he has a no move deal, not sure if it was just a no trade.

*its a limited no trade (he can list 8 teams) so he would be able to be left unprotected.

**i was wrong, it's a complete no movement deal until 2019, which I believe means we have to protect him.
