Hate to see Martin not resign, but it sounds like that will be the case. KO I am fine with but Martin is a good guy to have on the team. Frans I think will be back I believe. Think we make a mistake by not getting Matt back in our line up. |

It’s also worth nothing that he is the youngest goalie to ever win the KHL’s top honors, and was rewarded for his outstanding season with… an insurance policy from Russian insurance agency SOGOZ. (H/t to Dan Saraceni of LighthouseHockey.com for both of those tidbits.)
The policy is worth 10M rubles.
10,000,000 rubles = just short of 150k USD.
edit: Where does that donkey get off calling Stephon Williams a "highly touted" prospect? |

Best Fourth Line in Hockey may do a good job but in the end the big goals still came from Hickey, Quine and JT.
I'm sure they will make a play for Stamkos and even look into Vanek, but in the end the team will play the "kids" just like PITT has seen performances from Rust, Sheary, Murray etc. Even Matta's game has improved from early rounds.
Vets certainly steady the team and give regular season scoring to reach playoffs, but playoffs require youth and energy backed by experience. MDC and JHS may start in BRI but hopefully they are on the April roster. |

I was thinking the same thing. It should be a couple of years but I'm excited to see this goalie if he ever comes over - Vukota
If I recall, he's signed for the next two seasons in the KHL. Maybe we'll get lucky and we can get him out of his contract after next year.
Regardless, I think whatever our goaltender situation is next season...I think it's all just a bridge to Sorokin, ideally. That's not to say that Sorokin is any sort of a guaranteed sure-thing...but if he posts another strong-to-incredible season next year then I think it's fair to be excited about him. |

Whatevs
I'll wait until next June to freak out about it. Or at least until we know what our roster looks like on opening night. |

Phones generally work both ways. "No contact" means neither side is making much of an effort. Martin knows this is his only chance for a payday and he knows the Islanders probably have more important needs than "fourth line mean guy".
He's as likely to not want to come back as the Isles are to not want to re-sign him. |

I would be shocked if Martin did not want to return. Unless he is really looking for a big payday and knows the Isles will not come close? |

I wouldn't. Can you really think that any rational human in their 20's is going to leave, potentially, a million dollars per year (maybe more) on the table just to stay with the Isles?
I have no doubt the Isles would get somewhat of a hometown discount, but he's not going to leave $1M+ sitting on the table just to do the Isles a solid. His role is the most easily replaced in the entire NHL. There are 500 AHL players that would kill themselves to get a regular NHL spot. And, although he's been healthy his whole career, he's one nasty shoulder injury away from being utterly useless.
He's 27 and this is his last shot at getting a multi-year, multi-million-dollar deal and securing his financial future. He may not want to leave the Islanders, but I have no reservations saying that if the money was right...he'd do it without thinking twice. |

If a team wants to give Martin a mill more than the Isles, I say thanks very much Matt and wish him well. I would not blame him for taking the money. |

I think pulock will be the 6th d and either mayfield or a cheap ufa will fill the 7th spot and occasionally rotate in. Unless pelech bumps pulock I don't see him up with the big club and not playing, but he'd be a lock as the first call up and would play when someone gets hurt. - Isles_since_6
Pelech came up first and looked fine until the blood clot. This is what's confusing me. His injury should have zero impact on his ability, so I am wondering why Pulock has suddenly jumped him on the depth chart. I think it's time to bring 'em both up. |

I'm gonna guess Talent is the reason. Just because Pelech came up first doesn't mean he is the better answer long term. Pulock is the one with the higher ceiling IMO, Both will be NHL'ers but unless they make a trade and go with two rookie Dmen which I don't think they will who does Pelech replace? |

The isles liked pelachs d zone play better than pulocks so he was called up first but I think pulock proved he is capable in his own end and has more offensive upside especially with that shot. |

Yea pelach looks to be ready but he's not replacing 2 55 3 44 or 14 and pulock made the pp dynamic with his shot. He also looked good when he skated the puck and created chances. I thought hickey would be the guy to be moved to 7 but after his playoffs he's playing nightly. |
