The Oilers should draft Tkachuk. It's a no brainer. They need an elite winger with talent who also brings some grit and toughness. Enter Matthew Tkachuk. Picking up Maroon was helpful but he doesn't have a fraction of the skill that Tkachuk has.

Then you can trade your useless RNH or your useless Yakupov, your future picks, etc. to get the D you need. It doesn't have to be the 4th overall pick moving - and since the 4th overall prospect would fill a need that they absolutely have - they should just draft Tkachuk. STRAIGHT UP!

I can see how what you're saying makes sense, it's just hard to swallow watching Edmonton select another offensive player at the top of the draft.

Do I like Nylander more? No but I think scouts will. They love the whole genetics thing.

Personally I want to draft Chychurn.

My own rankings

Mathews
Fin 1 Laine
Fin 2 guy I cant spell
Thahkuk (cant spell)
Chychurn (still cant spell)
DuBois
Nylander

Where are the Jones's, Smith's and Miller's of the hockey world when you need them? Tricky names to spell.

Somebody pointed out yesterday that Jost plays against inferior competition in BC Junior hockey. This is true. I live in B.C. and watch it live quite often, including the Penticton Vees where he played this year. Jost's stats are inflated because of the weaker league he plays in. Plus he isn't very big. In my opinion, "buyer beware".

I am always wary of someone that shoots up the boards that much and has a huge jump in points like he did.

It happens but playing in the BCHL is like playing in the OHA (not OHL). Weaker competition.

I agree. It doesn't really matter for me on Jost because he won't be an option IMO at 8. I think the only options are...

(Living on a prayer) Nylander, Jouevi

(Most likely) Churchryn, Sergeaov

I like trading up for Tkachuk or Nylander/Jouevi but I hate trading back. There's a drop off after 9 first of all. Second of all only way I trade my first round pick is for a top pairing defenceman or top line winger. No more picks we all ready have the most or second most in the entire NHL

They also could use someone that can actually play defense. It also might be a tad early to throw around the word elite for a kid that might get drafted fourth

I'll take Sergachev, he sounds like a better Zadorov and hopefully he doesn't show up late to things

Do you think GMTM drafts the Russian if he is the remaining "top 3" LHD on the board?

I like him better than Chychrun actually. I don't know what Murray will do. Right now the board looks like he'll have his choice of Chychrun or Sergaov unless a player like Nylander, Dubois or Jouevi drops. If it's between the aforementioned two I bet he goes with the Canadian with NHL bloodlines. Just seems like a Murray pick. I'm betting right now 75% the pick will be Chychrun

Every kid is different if Murray passes on him simply because he's from Russia, I really wouldn't want him to be the GM
