I hope they don't get worse. They are basically in a hopeless situation. Too good to finish bottom 5, but only good enough to be a one and out playoff team. - Tumbleweed
Playing with 4 forwards 30+ mins a game is not a winning strategy IMO. |

Over the past 10 pathetic years we've lost alot of fans, respecially, popularity.
Rightfully so. Not that he previous 30 years were a world better.
It's time this team gets back to where it belongs and what it can be. - systemtool
The Leafs just need to sit upon the sports throne of Toronto again... Im so sick of talking about the raptors and Jays with bandwagon fans.. I consider myself a bandwagon Raptors fan, but ive always kept an eye on them, same with the Jays... But now people watch it everynight and text me poop about Pillar or Lowry.. just (frank) off already, go back to watching the bachelorette and leave me to my sports.. at least when the Leafs are the talk of the town everything is normal again. |

My boy is 2. By the time he gets to the point where he wants to actively support a team, I think the Leafs will be really good. Hopefully he falls in line - WingmanWillie

Marner had a storybook ending to the season. He needs to get more weight on his frame and maintain his quickness. If he can do that, and become a factor, playing beside Austin Matthews, the sky is the limit. The Leafs need to find some size to play with these two elite level junior aged forwards. It was painfully obvious, watching Hershey pound on the Marlies and how much trouble that Rouyn was for the high flying Knights, that it's an imperative, moving forward.
I also believe that Lou will find us a decent goalkeeper, since he's had a great track record in acquiring front line goaltenders. Lou was budget conscious, in New Jersey, but has a little more autonomy in Toronto. - PrinceLH

They've got a long way to go.
The Jays and Raps have taken big steps forward and have grown their fan base.
If the Jays make the playoffs again this season.....Toronto will be nuts again...not even Matthews at training camp will knock them off their perch.
The fans that watch the games everynight.....maybe they are the bandwagon fans....maybe its just you.
The leafs havent been the talk of the town for over a decade..... |

I was just thinking about my 4 1/2 year old boy and I realized something. I was worried that once he got to school he would see kids with McDavid Toews Crosby etc jerseys and other tears hats and cheer for a team aside from the Leafs. My hope was the memories of growing up with dad cheering the leafs would cement him and keep him loyal as it did with me and my dad.
But with the emphasis on rebuilding and Marner and Matthews coming, the Leafs will be cool, relevant and cheered for like in the old days.....if loushanducock can get this team winning. I'll have nothing to worry about. - systemtool
My boy turns 5 on Saturday and I was thinking the same thing - I was 6 when the Leafs took Clark 1st overall in '85...exciting times ahead. |

That's not true... they were the talk during the Burke era.. Jays and Raps sucked..
A likely scenario is the Jays don't make the playoffs and Leafs get off to a decent start... Matthews, Marner, Nylander, and Zaits will turn this team around fast.. They'll string a few wins together and beat Buf and Ott and discussion will be is this team legit?!?!? |

so we know adding some size up front is imperative. JVR doesn't utilize his as effectively as possible so actually using your size would clearly be a need. Other than Stammer then, who should we target via trade/FA/Draft? And where do they fit?
The way I see the lineup as of now is this: (assuming we sign Stamkos)
JVR - Stamkos - Nylander
Kadri - Matthews - Soshnikov
Komorov - Bozak - Michalek
Holland - Laich - Hyman
Greening
Rielly - ?
Gardiner - Zaitsev
Hunwick - Carrick
Marincin
Bernier
Sparks
Shattenkirk shoots right. Think we could formulate a trade for him to play with Reilly. Speed for days in this lineup! |

The talk during the Burke was never positive...but they were a little more positive than the jays/raps only because they were both bad. However, the leafs sucked to.
Very different now.
The Raps have been in the playoffs that past three years, the Jays were the talk of the country last year.
If the Jays dont make the playoffs, the leafs will garner some more attention.
If the Jays do make the playoffs, the leafs will be back burner...as they should be...as they havent won sh!t yet.
Jays/Raps still the talk of the town....which is great. Its great to have a city with several of its sports team getting positive headlines
Could be wishfull thinking about a quick turnaround....we'l see.
