One year in the A is more than Jake, Jared and Bo got combined....

Difference of drafting a european to a NA prospect. Kind of get to fast track their development. Colorado did something with ratanen. I like it in a way.

Irrelevant.

We don't know what we have in Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Brown, Zaitsev etc until they play a number of games in the big leagues.

Demko, Dubois, Boeser and Tryamkin may be inserted into an NHL lineup at will and with confidence

Now you are being a sarcastic jackass. The discussion is Oilers have inserted 4 number one picks into the NHL immediately. It has hurt 3 of the 4 so far . TO is taking the same approach.

3 players for a combined 39 games in 3 years? I think your being a bit harsh.

Well I have said it before and I know you are a good guy but you have to understand the irony when a Leaf or Oiler Fans come in here and give us advice about rebuilding.

You are talking about patience with our draft pick who we don't even know who it is or how they do at training camp while you take your first pick and insert him into the NHL without even trying out. That is Oileresque.

You talk about the expertise of Shanny who has been doing the job for two years? It is way to short of a time frame to declare this as the way to rebuild.

Detroit usually have their prospects in the AHL for 4years or so. TO will be putting Nylander in the NHL after one year in the A.

The team I cheer for doesn't add to or detract from the value of my opinions. I don't pretend to be an expert. Just a fan.

Nobody's inserted into the line up yet. I would expect Matthews will make the team but who knows. Same with Nylander. He's shown he belongs up there.

I don't think I said Shanny was an expert but I like the job he's been doing. Obviously tearing the old team down is the easy part I think it's the way to go and he could still (frank) things up but I like the approach he's taken - collect picks and prospects.

Yeah that's agreed. To how well they will fair is up in the air, those 3 are more physically developed and have been playing against men for the last year. Probably why they are a lock for the top 3.

We're not doing a very good job of.it. We've only won 1 lottery that we had the best odds for.

Tricky spot for management to be in. Do they start Matthews in the NHL? Or do they take the same patient approach as they did with Nylander and Marner, and draw the ire of the intentionally tanking crowd?

Safe to say we aren't getting Tkachuk.

Let's hope Dubois lives up to the comparison of Jamie Benn.

Most first overall picks play for their new NHL team, I can't remember the last one who didn't?

Just don't put all 3 on the same line or with a bunch of other rookies and they should be okay.

Explain how what you are doing is different Thant Oilers? Your team has lived in the bottom 10 for a decade.

Absolutely not.

Actually I just looked, Erik Johnson (2006) played one year of college hockey before he played for the Blues.

The Leafs have three top 5 picks and 2 top ten picks in the past eight years, they've been building for awhile...whether they think so or not.

So in nine years of drafting they've had 1st, 4th, 5th, 5th, 7th & 8th overall. That's probably more top 10 picks than the Canucks have had in the past 20 years?
