Cause all #1's suck? Not quite seeing the connection.

Your preaching drafting and development calling us the Oilers but are rushing your first overall into the lineup. It has failed 3 of 4 times so far for the Oilers

more like I think the defense needs a shakeup and our forwards are coming along. We have lots of talent developing but the D needs a makeover.

It's not hard, it's impossible. It takes years to contend.

Keep up the fight in here. I can send you some of Shanny's and Babcock's press conference quotes if it will help.

I think thanks to the oilers that's why you see less and less 18 year olds in the NHL.

Leafs have been very patient with their top picks. If Matthews is good enough, he'll play. If he's at Eichel's level he should be fine.

Shannahan isn't Kevin Lowe. As I said, Leafs have been very patient with their picks. I'm not really worried.

yes....and he's NHL ready ....Is there now space for him though? We have so many coming into the system...plus hamuis to consider

He'd fix our offensive D issue though

- SMBDragon

There's NO D men in this draft that are NHL ready for atleast 3 years.. If Juolevi is the consensus best on most boards watching him this tourney proved it.. Also showed why Benning went after Gudbranson.. I want tkachuk, he plays an NHL style big game and think he'd be perfect out in the west. I think he's the way safer pick.. But without a doubt it's him or dubois.. Most seem to favour dubois because he might be able to play center but I'd say he'd be a nice consolation prize

It's a bit early to say Toronto is being patient just because their top 10 didn't make the NHL. Probably would of had top picks even with them in the line up.

Our forwards are coming along to retirement.

It's great to have Bo, JV, and Sven but everyone else is either in their prime or past it. We have one good forward prospect, and that's all he is.

Well I have said it before and I know you are a good guy but you have to understand the irony when a Leaf or Oiler Fans come in here and give us advice about rebuilding.

You are talking about patience with our draft pick who we don't even know who it is or how they do at training camp while you take your first pick and insert him into the NHL without even trying out. That is Oileresque.

You talk about the expertise of Shanny who has been doing the job for two years? It is way to short of a time frame to declare this as the way to rebuild.

Detroit usually have their prospects in the AHL for 4years or so. TO will be putting Nylander in the NHL after one year in the A.

None of the top 3 are RHD helps why he got Guds. Not a glaring need for a centre unless going to be a legit 1st liner. LW Van has Sven and no other real, young or prospects that fit top 6 role.

Something for Makita

Thanks, I enjoyed the article, the writer conveyed my emotions precisely. I really don't want this guy, I believe as quoted, "Compensation is a large and worrisome consideration. Lucic is coming off a three-year deal worth $6 million per, including making $6.5 million in salary last year. There's no telling what he'll be looking for on his next contract. It's not likely to be a substantial raise on the $6 schmill that he was just making, but that might already be an over-payment".

And this statement is why I'm not a fan of Lucic, "On the surface, Lucic wouldn't seem like Linden and Benning's type of "character player", what with his penchant for sucker punches, groin spears, and death threats".

One year more only . Not even a full year . Nylander and Mathews will have a combined 70 games in the AHL. That's not rushing ?

ya Id agree that after watching both of them Id pick tkachuk if given the choice. Hes also been in the knights systems and they have a long history of producing top talent players. So its a slam dunk

I read that and seemed like a bit of a stretch, Lucic was partially a Benning player in Boston and inquired when Boston was going to trade him but wouldnt give up the cost
