None of us know the guy, and I suspect that writer doesn't either, his teammates in both Boston and LA said he's a great team guy. He's ultra competitive and let's his emotions get the better of him at times, I could say that about a lot of great players.
- LeftCoaster

The writer was just giving an objective analysis, with a few personal emotions inserted, which was he doesn't like the guy or respect him, but he understands the reasons why JB covets him, and he is conflicted by the entire thought of signing Lucic.

If Benning (in my opinion) signs him, it will be a detriment to the team in later years...(2+), and also with the dollars he will be paid and length of contract.

So I guess we will move Dubois to wing once we sign Stamkos and Tavares.

The only way I see Stamkos signing with the Canucks, and I mean the only way, is if pigs start flying.

He's definitely overpaid for what he provides, that was the knock on him in Boston, and you're right, if Benning gives him 6+ million a year for five years we'll be reliving Burrows all over again.

In the short term though, he'd be a good addition for a pretty young set of forwards because he's so damn tough and he does provide secondary scoring. And he's only 27.

My buddy golfed with Don Meehan and Meehan told him Stamkos is 100% signing in Toronto. This was last summer he said that.

One year more only . Not even a full year . Nylander and Mathews will have a combined 70 games in the AHL. That's not rushing ?
- VANTEL

Well Matthews is a 1st overall, and both players played in men's leagues before joining the NHL. It's quite different than playing junior hockey.

I felt the same with moving JM. You make that move if you're sure a better C is coming back in. I prefer tkachuk as he's a sure thing, but the trade made me certain of JBs intent at the draft.

However this is assuming tkachuk isnt available at 5....but he could be....never know someone before us could take dubois too....its possible, perhaps not likely but possible

He is most likely going there, the only reason i think theres a chance for here is canucks are in a win now mode, he would supply that and it would be hard passing up the extra money JB will likely spend

They're grown men, not 18 year olds playing 16-17 year olds.

Grown men 5 years removed from the NHL with stars like Ronald Kenins and Anton Rodin. Sorry if I don't get excited. The top players in the world are playing elsewhere.

Nobody expects Matthews to step in and score 100 pts the year he's drafted.

To put it into perspective, Bo scored 25m McCann 18 and JV 13?

A year later.....

He can make a lot of endorsement money playing for the Leafs.

the only chance of that is $ only otherwise we have no chance. Not sure what cap space the leafs have, but pretty sure theyd move players to make room in the cap.
we'd lose out there.

We have to realize SS wont be here ....no chance. Backes is a better target as thunderchunk pointed out yesterday.

I said he is good, but you ant say what TO are doing with him is no different that what Oilers did with Hall. He will probably put up Eichel numbers next year, but TO will finish bottom 10.

Seventy games for the undersized Nylander is rushing him. My point to CC was don't come in here preaching about rushing prospects when it is exactly war TOR is doing.

You're projecting.

Who's the last prospect to make the Leafs? Reilly?
