Rangers are a very flawed team with many obstacles on improving due to no movement, no trade, over paid players and lack of draft picks. I think a total makeover is needed. Henrik has been the best Ranger over the longest period of time since I became a fan in the mid 70's. Other players like Leetch might have been better but not for as long. But the window has closed on him and team needs to move on and realistically you can't have a goalie with that big of a cap hit. I would trade him to team like Sabers for picks and young NHL experienced players (Grigensons). If you can get they to accept a bad contract like Staal or Glass back also. Then I would trade Stepan and Nash if you can't find a team that will take Nash and waive him and hope someone claims him. Players Nash might get would be Bobby Ryan or Evander Kane type. But really I'd rather send him away for nothing and use money for Stamkos. Jan said in previous blog Rangers have failed going big name route before and they have plenty of times but most of those players were on wrong side of 30 and Stamkos is just 26. Find a team Girardi will accept a trade to and eat 2 million of his salary would be shorter cap ramifications then a buy out. Pass on resigning Yandle and acquire Barrie or Shattenkirk or wait till next off season when he is UFA. a d core of McD, Brodin or Dumba (in Stepan trade), Skjei and Barrie or Shattenkirk would be a nice top four. Stamkos, Gregensons and Brass would give Rangers strong centers and hopefully some of the forwards the Rangers have drafted can start reaching their potential. As for goalie I think our goalie coach is going to take decent goalie and make him good. I know there are some holes but this would be my basic outline to move forward. |

yep, Lundqvist is certain to waive his NMC to go to Buffalo
who wouldn't want to leave NYC for Buffalo? |

what I find funny about this post is he actually says "Find a team Girardi would accept a trade to" in the same breath as he just trades Lundqvist to Buffalo without even worrying about him accepting it |

I can't understand why Brent Seabrook is consistently not part of the roster for Canada, he is the Rodney Dangerfield of Canadian hockey, all he does is win, lead and improves his play every year. All you have to do is ask Duncan Keith about Seabrook or anybody else in Chicago's organization. To bad he wasn't born in the lower 48 because he would be a mainstay on US roster. |

Here's a serious question, IF Vanek is bought out by Minnesota would you be opposed to the Rangers signing him? |

His goal totals the last 3 seasons have gone 27, 21, 18. At 32 I have a feeling Vanek is one step from being Alex Semin. That being said, as a Devils fan, Vanek to the Rangers for 5 years 25 million. |

It seriously depends on if the Rangers move Nash.
If they do, signing Vanek for a year or two, is not the worst thing in the world. If they don't, no need, all Vanek does is impede Buchnevich's pro progress. |

If there is an expansion draft the NHL has pulled off the table the minimum amount of salary to be exposed |

Where did you read that?
- A few weeks ago, NHL's brass estimated it could hit $74M... |
