It completely depends on the team. Teams that Lack D need superstar goalies. Teams with excellent D dont need superstar goalies.

Murray has played very well and may turn out to be a superstar goalie. Jones on the other hand is a good goalie. Sharks D is much better than the Pens so that compensates.

Excellent Dmen dont fall from trees so teams are lucky to have 1 if any. The Flyers had Chris Pronger back in 2010 and was able to carry the Flyers to the finals with Leighton as their goalie yet without Pronger they failed with much better goalies than leighton Bobrovsky, Mason, Bryzgalov ect.

You have to build the best team with the pieces available to you.

I have been saying this for a while!! You dont NEED an elite goalie, you NEED and Elite Center though! Both teams have elite centers, thats why they are where they are.

yup, and I was thinking as well that Center is the most demanding position to play
