Aquilini. If Benning was paying the bill we would be getting meat n potatoes

we still are, look at that forward group, it stinks to high heaven when you look around the Western Conference. Even the Oilers can ice a better group than that at forward.

So the way I see Canucks season shaking down is like this.

Tanev has a new shooting coach , so he tries out his new shot and it goes right off Gudbrandsons ankle and shatters it, the puck deflects up and re breaks Sutters jaw. Hank bends down to check out Sutter and re aggravates his hip and is gone for the year.

True Canucks fashion.

Vantel....I'm not gambling on the Oilers vs Canucks or playoffs this year, FYI. They will most certainly finish ahead of the Canucks and be sniffing a playoff spot when it's all said and done. Chiarelli will get them some defense this summer.

Still a bottom 10 team. There seems to be more confusion this year than ever

His salary is only 3 . IF you could package him say Pedan and Burrows to Mtl for a second round pick.
- VANTEL

Thats a lot for a 2nd round pick. Add a 3rd and done

depending on what Van signs for FA's. If the team can stay somewhat healthy this season, I see them fighting for 3rd in division or 7-8. Rookies have a year under their belt. Added some players that can help the team win. I don't see them being any worse.

LA
San Jose
Anaheim

Are still the cream of the Pacific Division crop, no chance (as of right now) they can match those guys over an 82 game schedule.

Dallas
Chicago
St Louis
Nashville

Then you've got these four bears in the Central.

Stamkos alone can't fix that.

Not saying your wrong, but LA and Ducks seem to be falling more than climbing these days. They are running into age and heavy contract issues

Anaheim built to win now and to me they showed they aren't there with all the additions made. Maybe its just me but I think Perry could use a change of scenery.

I think Anaheim isn't as good as SJ or LA, that said, they're still head and shoulders better than the current state of the Canucks. Getzlaf, Perry and Kesler are 30 or just turning 31, a lot of miles left in those tanks IMO. Sedins had their best years around that age.

As for LA, doughty is only 26, Muzzin is 26, Kopitar is 28 turning 29 this summer, Jeff Carter just turned 30 in January, Quick just turned 29, Toffoli and Pearson are 23. Lots of miles left there too IMO.

It's so hard to win it all, so many great teams don't win it, look at this year with Nashville (great team) Los Angeles Chicago St Louis....they're all so deep and talented.

When I look at those rosters and then look at the Canucks roster I just posted, my heart sinks because I realize how much work Benning has to do to make the roster a winning one.

LA - Kopitar, Carter, Toffoli, Pearson, Doughty, Muzzin, Lucic, Gaborik
Nashville - Forsberg, Johansen, Neal, Josi, Weber, Smith, Ellis
Chicago - Toews, Kane, Keith, Seabrook, Panarin, Anisimov, Hjalmarsson, Shaw, Teravainen
St. Louis - Tarasenko, Schwartz, Stastny, Steen, Pietrangelo, Shattenkirk, Backes, Brouwer, Fabbri, Bergland

How do you compete with that? And I didn't even include Anaheim or San Jose.

Canucks in playoffs past got steamrolled because they were pu$$ies. I looked at the fear in Tanevs eye when he got ran over by Ferland . Canucks had to send 2 men in to fight Engelland. Our playoff history shows what a bunch of cream puffs this team was. Go back to Bolland and Brown attacking the Sedins and no one hit back. I have seen Edler scurry away to avoid a scrum where his captain is being mauled. You can't win like that.

Canucks have some good young talent with Bo Etem Sven . They have Boeser and this years pick that should also be a good player.

We need size and toughness. We are getting there. I hope Gudbrandson teaches Tryamkin how to play big and mean.

He is slow but he would make room for others.

In the last games on the California trip last year , the teams were not as brave with Tryamkin and Pedan in the lineup. I seen McGinn take a leap at Tryamkin and bounce off .

I read today that he will probably not sign in LA

We've got the Memorial Cup Final today and the prospect of Mattias Ohlund's induction into the Ring of Honour looking likely at the draft party.

Oh—and more smiles from Ben Hutton, in the new blog:

If you have 12 million to spend on stamkos wouldn't you be better off to make the team deeper by signing both Loui Eriksson and Lucic for the same $$$ More lines that can score and compete would make the team deeper to compete with the California teams
