They both are busts. They are Dmen that teams want to be legit Top 4 dmen on the 2nd pairing but really are suited for the 3rd pairing. - DDM-Coga
Your statement, while quoting mine, does nothing to address my statement or any other relevant facts that we have been discussing in regards to the oilers.
As a Colorado fan I would assume that the only piece that the Oil have that would be enticing would be Nurse plus a second for Barrie.
So I don't understand why there was all this hype of the coyotes wanting the local product Matthews to market the team around but the media leaves out the fact that the #4/5 prospect tkachuk was born in Scottsdale as well. I think there could be a deal to be made with the yotes trading up from 7 to 4

Dont even want Nurse...hes going to be good but Avs have Bigras, Zadorov (I think Zads has the same ceiling as Nurse)....plus Beauchemin, Holden, Gelinas already on the roster as LHS Dmen.
With where they are at 10th overall, they have more than a solid chance of drafting one of the top 3 LHS dmen. Nurse and a 2nd doesnt solve anything for them and would be a step back trying tor make the playoffs making the oilers probably stronger.
I stand by my original offer of 4th and Yak for Barrie (they could get a better dman than barrie with that offer but over pay in desperation is the name of the game this summer). Avs don't have to trade Barrie (Friedman has caused a mountain out of a mole hill saying he felt in February that Barrie and Avs weren't close in contract talks....A feeling he got in February is the basis of this whole story)
he is an RFA so Avs hold all the chips here. So if a team wants to get him they have to over pay to get him. Avs don't start talking with their RFAs till after the season, always have always will. The whole story is dumb from Friedman since he has gone full sportsnet and flapping his mouth with real not substance in his reporting

Understatement right there, lol
Don't see the av's having any use for Yak

He really is just shooting from the hip now tossing out his thoughts and feelings as legit rumours.
Anyone who covers the Avs closely have been saying for months that they will take this all the way to Arbitration. As soon as Avs can they will file for team elected are to protect him from getting any offer sheets....they will negotiate until the date and probably settle at a minimum a 2 year deal if they can get the long term deal hammered out.
