Yeah I had a bit of a brain fart with Wiz.
And while Buff was only around for one, he was a HUGE factor in the Hawks winning that one. I'm not sure you guys get past Pronger and the Flyers without him. - Wildschwein
Agree Buff was a huge in the finals and his play against Pronger was , I think, the key factor in the win against the flyers |

Davidson > gudbranson in everything but name power - HB77
Sorry but I disagree. I would be trying to peddle Yak off on any sucker willing to give up a young character RHD. Hell at this point through RNH to the wolves and try to get a pair. |

Or is he making his linemates look better? There are several articles and analytic based charts that suggest that he is. I still dump Yak for Cam barker - Pres.cup
Funny you mention analytics when you're such a big supporter of Gudbranson
I'm really just ribbing you, and I wouldn't have been against his acquiring for Yak and a 2nd. That having been said, I don't value Yak at all so I'm in the minority. That having been said, I don't think he'd even get close to filling the hole on our backend. |

I haven't said anything about how good Guddy is, But he is better then all of our defencemen except Edler and Tanev and could grow more as a 24 year old. He is someone our team and yours needs, and I love that florida picked McCann over Yakipov. Its that sort of over valuing assets that will continue to prevent the oilers from taking the next step. |

Nah, we gave up a 4th for Gryba last year and got pretty much what you're gonna get out of Gudbranson. Enjoy the $4mil+ long term contract Benning will undoubtedly sign him to because "leadership". We'll pursue other avenues. - MaximumBone
Meh, atleast the Canucks have someone to fight Engellund now. Hopefully the refs don't have to allow another 2v1 ever again. What a joke that was. |

And yes, the oilers are desperate for more 3rd pairing nhl'ers. This guy really knows his stuff |

Dude. I'd totally do John Merrill straight up for Yakupov if that's your thing. |

Let me know when RNH is for sale for a middle pairing defender. I'm sure we can scrounge one of those up. For sure that will turn the Oilers franchise around |

the face palm belongs to oiler fans who are perfectly fine with being the worst run franchise in all of sports
one whose best player had to be taken to his hotel by the Police after the team new years Party at Calgary's Osteria de Medici.
as reported by the Star:
Eight thousand bucks sure sounds like a lot of booze.
That's how much 45 Edmonton Oilers and their entourage consumed on New Year's Eve at Calgary's Osteria de Medici. Then the fun started. The Oilers party took issue with the roughly $17,000 bill (once food and 18 per cent gratuity were factored in). They refused to pay more than $13,000. Restaurant owner Maurizio Terrigno went public, shaming the hockey team.
this is not the only incident either......
most fans are blissfully unaware of what players do off the Ice.....Taylor Hall has multiple incidents where the Oilers have had to get involved to protect the franchise - randi
And Osteria de medici has a reputation of doing this. They accused some of the Flames of doing it a few years ago. Do some research on the Terrigno family before using this lame story. They are currently all over the news for trying to bully politicians. And I KNOW first hand, at that time Maurizio was abusing certain substances that would impair ones judgement. The guy had a candy problem. Not sure if he still partakes, but I was given the go ahead to ban him from a bar I was managing at that time. |

Where's the link that proves we offered yaks for gudbranson but they chose McCann instead? I'm not even arguing there's zero chance it happened. I'm saying its guesswork at best and isn't a valid retort to somehow prove yaks worth or lack thereof.
Gudbranson is not a version of nurse. Nurse is by far the better skater and puck carrier than gudbranson. Are you sure you actually watch hockey ?
Neither am I saying that nurse is some stud already, he's not. I'm just saying that the only thing they both have in common is they're mean. If nurse is gudbranson in 3 years, it's a huge disappointment.
And the oilers depth on the right side is bad, and we are chasing rhd. And we might've even been interested in gudbranson as a secondary option. But you flat out don't know what you're talking about if you truly think he's the answer or anywhere near a focus to solve our problems on the backend. We are looking for true top 4 pick mover/pp guy and a true top 4 minute Muncher that doesn't get destroyed at both ends of the ice facing tough competition every night.
Just stop trying to pontificate about the oilers, you're failing badly.
and use the Canucks thread if you wanna stroke gudbranson. |

imo it's going to take more then one or two moves to solve the backend..... instead of shutting down any player that isn't " the answer" the oilers should be improving the defence by any means necessary. not penciling in players on the future " contending" oilers. |

I realize this was what u wanted to read, but Glance back- no one said they wouldn'tve entertained the idea of acquiring gudbranson. He has some attributes that are enticing no doubt.
What we debated about was how good he truly is and what it would be worth us paying, whether we called about acquiring him, and what is and isn't our foremost needs |
