Being 20yrs old and rich seems to "not be good" for some people. Makes them feel like all the girls want them(and that's generally true, which doesn't help the situation), and can cause some to just be a douche.

True , but after Toews and Kane started playing they were in the western final in two years and a cup within 3 I think. Besides them and Barker I don't think they had a draft pick in the top 5.

Pretty arbitrary cut-off you made at 5, but yes. However, they also drafted Skille at 7, Seabrook at 14, and Ruutu at 9. Plenty of high picks that they screwed up, but they were fortunate and smart enough to find those later picks and be a somewhat attractive FA destination. |
