These commentators are hilarious..... Kessel and an underwhelming regular season with just 26 goals, let's take Brandon Dubinsky and his 17 goals instead.
Edit : or Callahan and his 10 goals. |

All of this - Zezel
Plus, those who think Zaitsev is too much of a ? Haven't been watching very closely.
Only 2 Leafs Dmen made world cup teams, hes one of them, and hasn't even played a game yet. Clearly the hockey people making the decisions think hes pretty good
It wouldn't surprise me one bit if he paired with Rielly this season.
The real debate should be about who is going to cover for play with Gardiner |

Spent how long talking about strength down the middle, we start to get that and people want to ruin it.

exactly... and quite frankly they're getting ahead of themselves. Yes the prospects look good... but if people are thinking there still aren't question marks around Nylander and Matthews ... they're nuts. Neither has played sufficient games of professional hockey to be considered a "certainty"... not yet.
look at Tampa with Drouin - it would be fair to say a lot of people wrote him off by midseason this year.... words like bust, not ready... blah blah blah.
he looked liked their best forward in the last game again Pittsburgh... long story short lots of upside BUT not ready for prime time responsibility... what makes you think either Nylander or Matthews will be anything different at this point.
plus they just signed Kadri to a cap favourable deal... the only logical choice - is to play Bozak as much as possible to shelter the kids and at least let him develop or maintain some trade value- and until Stamkos situation is clarified... not point throwing him away either ... unless its for a clear D upgrade.
if we have learned anything in the past 15 months... the Leafs now know how to draft, they appear to be knowing what to do with development - give them a chance to clear the rest of the leftovers from the failed core "THAT MANAGEMENT CONSIDERS WEAK" and wait patiently for them to do so.
patiently in all aspect - except getting rid of Bernier. |

Yeah, Zaitsev seems ready to play. Great free add if he makes the transition. |

Yes exactly.
Having Stamkos, Bozak and Kadri this year would allow Babcock to do exactly what he wanted, which was to start Nylander on the wing. Hell he may do that with Matthews as well.
Develop them at the NHL level on the wing and shift them to the middle when they are ready. |

Roman Polak or
whomever Winnipeg decides to play Gardiner with... after the Leafs deal Gardiner + 3rd to Jets for Trouba. |

Agree with all this, they need to double down on patience now and let these prospects develop. I don't want to see any more trading of young guys like Steen, etc. And I'm positive they aren't going to do that.

exactly. The Steen + CarloC to the Blues for Stempniak was just plain dumb on a few fronts. |

How in the flying (frank) is Kessel left off team usa?
They are just terrible at picking players.
Edit: not sure if this has been discussed yet. I just woke up and very hungover |

What's the craziest thing about the Leafs right now is all thedifferent players to focus on.
I can remember dark days when Schenn and Kadri were the only hope all we could talk about.
Then Rielly came and became the golden boy. But shortly after that, Nylander was the big talking point. Then everyone kind of looked away to focus on Marner. Now, despite Marners mem cup heroics, everyone is looking at Matthews. If the sign Stamkos, that will distract even further.
Then you have the dark horse prospects like Brown, Sosh, Zaitsev who are getting by with almost no notice at all.
Kind of a crazy time to be a Leaf fan right now. A long way from considering Luke Schenn to be a cornerstone |

Yeah man, the difference is unbelievable. There's never been more reasons to be intrigued and optimistic as a Leafs fan. It's beyond any expectation.
And don't forget Babcock, Lou, Hunter etc....the turns for the better have been unbelievable so far.

Is ridiculous. He took crappy guys he's had before like Callahan and Dubinsky because he knows them. So absurd. Can't wait for them to get trounced and the complaining that the team sucked and couldn't score.
Gee, I wonder why a team filled with 3rd liners who score in the teens can't score goals against the worlds best. I wonder why.

I always thought it was funny, the guy can skate circles around a lot of other NHL players, yet he's out of shape. What would he supposedly do if he was in shape, skate faster than any human ever?

Said they were trying to build a team over just picking the best players. We all know how that tourny played out |

Disagree. Bozak isn't a good 3c. Any lineup with bozak in and kadri out is inferior. Best lineup is with kadri in and use his cap space on ufa dman. - burn
For sure if there's a UFA we can plug in the top 4?
Doesn't have to be Bozak, could be Holland if we did make a trade
( geez, this sounds like about 12 hours ago )
