I've often thought that USA will close the gap with Canada and surpass Russia, Sweden and Finland in internationals, I thought that was inevitable, but not at this tournament. It's hard to understand.

So many ridiculous decisions. Kessel was arguably their best offensive player at the Olympics too so it's extra confusing.

This roster reeks of John Tortorella. Jack Johnson sucks and Brandon Dubynsky and Ryan Callahan are nowhere near team USA level. I find this as an extreme disgrace to our international team. Not even gonna root for this poop show even if the kids get eliminated.

Kessel being left off is a direct result of Burke not wanting to admit failure and also Torts having a deadset(wrong) opinion on a player.

If you had said T.Johnson should be a head of Stepan just based on playoff producition I couldn't argue with you. But Derek Stepan was a better Points p60 player than Stastny. He face tough zone and and matchup assignments, while traditionally outscoring Stastny. If you're gonna draw a line in the sand on Stepan that Stastny in on the same side.

I think there's less of an excuse to leave off Johnson than Kessel. The fact that Galchenyuk (another center) was told he was a hop skip and a jump from making the team, assumably before Johnson, is a farce. He's also certainly better than Stepan and Statsny.

I know. That's Why I said Failure. Burke's trading for Kessel would mean Burke would have to swallow his pride. Kessel was traded by the current leafs regime to rebuild. No hard feelings I think. Just all business minus Steve sommers.

Galchenyuk could only play for u23 team of North America. Auston Matthews took his spot.
