That is the GM of a bottom 5 team in the running for picking #1 overall next year talking about essentially a 1st round pick. I can't even imagine a point in time where Sweeney and Benning were both in the Boston front office together.

Had to go back and watch the clip of Bruins brass deciding to move Seguin... the utter devastation on Benning's face when they find out Nathan Horton is leaving the team is (frank)ing hilarious, lol.

That video is both hilarious and cringe worthy -- never seen it. Seguin needs to be traded because he isn't "tough" and doesn't "play our game" even though they say he will be a "superstar." This is the Flyers front office before Hextall too. One of the two changed though. I don't think people realize how moronic some front offices can be with their "hockey people" and their trite phrases that pass for "analysis." There's always a happy medium, but videos like this or "whacks 'em with his stick" Morin draft video make you really question what's going on behind the scenes.

Worked for the Sharks (twice lol) and Brown isn't half the player Thornton is. Of course it requires a Pavelski in the wings. Unless they trade for Pavs, this could backfire.

We are all humans, with biases
Cam Neely was the key for me...he clearly wanted Seguin to be a finished product, what, three years into the league. It's easy for me to sit here and say Seguin is immature, but a guy like Neely has to know that it takes some guys longer
I wasn't sure Seguin would mature and didn think the return was horrific, but I wouldn't have traded him because he didn't fit our culture after three years
I would trade guys who can't play, who have identified shortcomings in ability that you thought could be corrected but can't
