I was in a comedy club in Philly a year Talbot was made a Flyer and saw him come in. I knew it was him instantly and after the show I wanted to go over and say hi, and thought I would have to wait behind a lot of fans trying to get autographs. Plus, he had not one, but two girls with him.

Turns out; as I watched, not one person noticed him or approached him for an autograph or anything. I was amazed. My wife and I went over and said hi, and told him he was one of my favorite Pens players, talked about the whole car commercial Superstar! thing. He laughed and was happy that someone remembered that and noticed him. He even signed an autograph with his Pens number, not the Flyers number he wore.

So, can we please refer to Max Talbot - the one of Shhh fame and of two goals in Game 7 of the 2009 SCF's - as Former Penguin? Calling him anything else regardless of where he might had played afterwards in his career is like calling Franco Harris "Former Seahawk".

I find it hard to believe he autographed something for a Pens fan with hes Penguins number

GiG: Yeah Alex I'll take delusional Pens fan for 800 please.

Alex: This player, whose last name is Talbot, played on the Flyers.

GiG: Who is....Max Talbot?

Alex: That's the player. Select again.

GiG: Let's go 1200, Alex.

Alex: Answer....dailllly double *claps*

GiG: we'll make it a true daily double

Alex: Ahhh a gambling man! Here's the clue: This is a term describing any and all players who have played on the Philadelphia Flyers.

GiG: What is.......a former Flyer?

*Claps* Alex: Right you are.

I had a similar experience with Joe Pavelski in downtown San Jose. He was just sitting at the counter with Jason Demers eating lunch and no one noticed him but my coworker and me. I said hi to him at one point.

I'll bet he would have signed an autograph (if you asked) with his Sharks number.

Edit: be we need Regis in here to tell what number he wore in bantams

I have an autographed puck from the great R.J. Umberger with his new Flyers number. I bet if I asked he would have put his old number

Both Pavelski and Ghost came into the NHL as number 53...I think we can see the connection

it did suck having him go to the flyers. but at that time, the contract you guys offered him was much more than he was going to get from the pens. and dont get me wrong, these guys are all millionaires so its not like i feel bad for them, but i could sympathize with a guy who hasnt been making 6,7 million a year in his career cashing in on his last big chance.

Absolutely. Money talks. Bottom line.

He was a hell of an NHLer both here in for you guys. Great role player, great person. Nothing but good things to say about Max.

Indeed. 9 years with the Flyers, 11 with Carolina. Of course his Cup wasn't in Philadelphia, and he's currently a coach with Carolina. So yes, a Cane through and through.
