Trade options for Toronto:

Chicago: Shaw (?)
LA: -
St Louis: Shattenkirk, Bouwmeester (?), Schwartz.
Tampa: Bishop / Vasilevskiy, Kucherov. (+ trade rights for UFA Stamkos)
New York Rangers: Kreider, Hayes (+ trade for rights UFA Yandle)

Apart from Tampa (GK) and St Louis (D), it doesn't seem there are any clear options for trade for Toronto..

Shaw isn't a guy we'd trade for at this point. He'd be taking roster space away from a young guy who could potentially be better.

Shattenkirk is the only guy from St Louis that really makes sense and at that, unless we trade away a good prospect (like top 6 or top 4 potential) who is still making less than a million and a high pick, I doubt we get anywhere with them

Bishop is one to go for at this point, Kuchie ain't going anywhere but maybe it's possible to pry one of either killorn or namestnikov away a la brandon saad.

I don't know if I like anybody in New York enough to make a determination.

Realistically, Matthews is probably more of a 30 goal scorer.

2nd that. The only person I'm convinced will be a ppg is Matthews. The rest, I say I'll believe it when I see the put up ppg.

Not really; it's more an expectation that they would improve as they enter their early twenties and Stamkos would drop off a little as he moves the other side of thirty.

It should be said however that there were only 6 PPG players in the regular season... if you have 2 or 3 guys putting up 70+ points now then you're in very good shape

If that ever came to pass the leafs would be unstoppable...but even still I dont see stamkos dropping off signicantly in the next 3 years. He'll only be 29 by then (assuming his health issues dont persist)

The team would still have a lot of work to do even with Stamkos but he would sure help move things along quicker. Plus it's only assumption he even is strongly considering Toronto. I don't think anyone but he knows really.
