Dudes a stud. He's made to.be a joke on the internet but he just doesnt care. He does what he does and does it well. Lots of respect deserved for someone who can shake off the jokes like that.

My dad thought the same for me with Sid when I first started loving the pens. Spent every extra dime on pens merch. Had to stop before it did legit become a shrine. That was years ago though. So its probably time to start buying more. Haha

I think my issue is that Ive always loved The Phil and acquiring him was something I never entertained as a possibility until it happened. The shock factor of all of a sudden having one of my favorite players on the Pens skyrocketed my obsession to an unacceptable level

Worst contract in the NHL along with Callahan and I'm a big Dustin Brown fan.

Yeah, poor guy lost his legs. I would love him on the Pens circa '99...pretty much the only era he would excel in anymore.

That's a good way of putting it! I love people that take crap day in and out and still push on with a smile. He's so (frank)ing awkward it's amazing Toronto didn't love him.

Speaking of The Phil, Pensburgh just put up a blog about Kessel and the mythology of clutch a few days ago. Very much worth a read.

four more years at 5.8. That is a lot. Brandon Dubinsky makes the same money basically and he brings way more to the table that Callahan IMO.

I didn't think it was at all possible until his NTC list of teams was made public. At that point I knew it was either Pittsburgh or another year in Toronto, but that was only a few weeks before the trade went through and I still thought Toronto didn't HAVE to trade him and that they were going to hold out in hopes that Phil would open up to a few more teams after another miserable year.

Ugh, that video really does a good job of showing just how disrespected Phil was in Toronto. Such a jack@ss organization, nothing against the fans, they and Montreal fans are some of the most loyal fans in sports, but the management for the Leafs has been absolutely the worst in the league for over a decade. Terrible GMs hiring terrible coaches year after year after year.

Kessel in the video last night is on cloud 9, on a team where he is appreciated and is talent understood.

You get the sense that Kessel is at peace with himself. That he is truly happy, his teammates love him. The quotes from Schultz show how unfair Kessel was treated.

Sid said similar things to J-Schultz, but in his typical Crosby understated-politically correct way.
