I luv the NFL other than watching Manning stand over Centre all game.
I know the dude can hardly jog let alone run.
That said he is on my All-Time forehead team. 😂👍

Asking Gudbrandson to score 35 point is like asking Karlsson to be Sens new goon or Dorsett to be the PPQB.

This team is just beginning to change and panic has set in.

For those who don't know Gudbranson punches faces ,clears players from the front of the net , and sticks up for team mates. He is not Bobby Orr and we did not trade Patrick Kane.

The only thing Pissing me off about this trade is we get another player with 84 letters in their name. How am I supposed to remember these guys!

NFL playoffs good. Regular season --- unless you have 'your team' in it.... boring as sin.

His line mate WTF
His goalie WTF
His team mates WTF

Although I know everyone here is an expert , when I see his team shocked and openly expressing sadness to see him go, I will take their word over anyone here about the type of player he is

Gudbranson clearly plays a style that his teammates appreciate and many different people have said that he is great character guy, no one is denying that.

I can see Fla players upset that they are losing a guy that helps them win now because they are finally in a position to make the playoffs every year.

None of that mean that Gudbranson is the savior some are making him out to be or that the price to acquire him wasn't too much. He is a good role player and will add some much needed toughness, maybe he is a late bloomer and develops an offensive game.

He helps the Canucks right now no doubt and also likely for the next little while. I'm not sure if he helps the Canucks get significantly better moving forward and I'm not sure that McCann a 2nd and 4th do either but it is another example of this mgmt not being patient and trying to take short cuts to rebuild this team.

I hope it works out but I can't think of many teams that have been able to rebuild on the fly the way the Canucks are attempting.

- belcherbd

It's starting to remind me of Nonis trading away our 2nd round picks, remember when everyone was female doging because we've got good young players in our own backyard but we don't pick them.

I can't remember who it was but he quickly reminded the person calling into 1040 that the Canucks didn't have a second round pick to take Lucic.

You know Lucic has better career points per game than Kesler, he has 397 points in 647 games. Kesler has 493 points in 815 games.

Off topic but Lucic wouldn't cost anything but money. For a team that has one current top six winger he'd look good in a Canucks sweater.

Not happening….when the Canucks finish tenth last next year because they have no top six forwards Jim Benning will be fired along with his idiot boss. And unfortunately the process will continue until ownership realizes you have to build a winner through the draft.

And on and on it goes...

- LeftCoaster

Kinda how I see it. Although I see this as ownership saying we wont rebuild so start making some trades either that or benning is that crazy.

Smellls of FA. FLA players r pissed he is gone.
Seems to be a warrior & high Character guy by all accounts.
If he embraces Vancouver & steps up as a major leader i can say the 33OA was spent well. If not well we will be here again lol

We most likely know what we are getting in Gudbranson, but I think it is pretty naive to say with any certainty what McCann and those picks will or will not be at this point.

I'm onboard with drafting and developing, I'm not onboard with spending assets to improve your team in one area and making it worse in another.

My vision for this team is three four five years down the road, that's the way I see things….not in the immediate like you're saying.

- LeftCoaster

Is it really worse? You have to open up to trading young players to balance. If you feel JM doesnt fill what you need as a #1 C in the future and you have better winger and bottom C options,,,, then maybe he can help fill the desperate needs in another area with a young player acquired.

I don't understand the single mindedness of building through the draft only. Do you really believe all that we need in the future is going to just roll out of the draft following our priorities and time tables? Draft BPA and consider it a asset... not someone you absolutely have to invest years of development on before you decide if they are what you want. JM isnt the type of player Benning wants as our #1 C so he turned into a young RDinstead. Is it really making it worse in one area? Specially with a most likely draft scenario being a bigger C that Benning really likes and has all the signs of much more upside than McCann in that position.

No I've repeatedly said I don't want to rid the lineup of all veteran players, where do you see that I said trade anyone and everyone?

I want Benning to stop trading away second round picks that may turn into something in the future. To me having Gudbranson now is simply meaningless, the team may be slightly better but they still suck, this is not a very good team!

I agree, and I'm happy to have him but its another sign that this mgmt group isn't willing to build and develop slowly. I think I was in denial when WD said a couple of weeks ago that they needed to pick one goal and I erroneously assumed that it could only mean develop.
