If he can be put in an offensive role and produce 25 to 35 points….I'll say I was wrong and love this deal. If not, it wasn't worth it IMO.
- LeftCoaster

since his career high is 13 pts, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that's not happening.

I think he can produce 25 points.

A bunch have chimed in that he's hit his ceiling but at 24 I think there's a bunch of room for growth, and he did show quite a bit of growth this season.

I think everyone here can agree that EG not being able to sign an extension until Jan 1, 2017 is a really really good thing...

Tkachuk and Dubois both have been regarded with higher potential than McCann, so there might be doubts if they make top 6, but no moreso than JM who remains a question mark even with 69 NHL games.

Also McCann was supposed to take longer than he did to even make his debut, let alone rookie season. And before you say it, yes a poor lineup aided him making the team, but as we have discussed today the NHL forward group isnt any better so odds are either one will make an early debut as well

- WhiteLie

Even if they make the team, it doesn't mean they're automatically top six forwards. They may never be…but they also might be. That's why you pick as many as you can until you get what you're looking for and don't pin your hopes to one selection.

This is a guy who's been primarily a shut-down dman. He seems almost anxious in the o-zone. He was what, #4 on the depth chart in FLA? It will probably take some time for him to change this style.

25-35 almost seems like best case scenario

He hits those numbers its a home run.
I see him as more a beast to play against the Kings Ducks & Sharks.
Hutton & Larsen to be the offensive point getters.
Edler will be Edler.

Also in the neutral zone. Like he just wants to get rid of the puck.

Maybe if they give him the green light to carry it things will change.

Worth a shot. Cannot be worse than Bart or Weber.

Brutal trade. Terrible asset managment by Benning. He almost paid as much as Calgary did to acquire Hamilton. 3 teams minimum have way to many Dman, Anaheim, Columbus & Minnesota at least that need to address before the expansion draft.

Gubranson has played 309 NHL regular season games. Putting up 11 goals 32 assists for 43 points & is -49. He has 5 full seasons of NHL experience & played as Florida's #4 last season based on TOI/GP. Was the #1 penalty killing Dman for a team that had the 24th best penalty killing!

In my 35 years of running hockey pools & being a hockey freak this is the most inept management I have ever seen. Linden & Benning have set the Canucks back close to a decade.

I have already cancelled my 2 8K+ tickets for next season

Good they can take those two tickets and sell them to a fan that knows hockey

I figured it was relevant for all the visitors

His scouting report is very Benning-like:
Nilsson is a throwback, heavy body-checking, defensive defenseman who draws the ire of his opponents with his sometimes borderline legal, antagonistic play.

It's actually a pretty deep draft for D from what I've read.
- golfingsince

Maybe not deep, but certainly not weak. After the big 3 you've got McAvoy, Fabbro, Bean available in the mid-late 1st and Johansen, Green, Girard, Dineen, Hajek, Sambrook, Mete, Allard, Day, and Clague likely around through the 3rd round. All are good-to-great prospects who either lack an outstanding quality to their game, are boom or bust type guys (Clague, Girard, Allard, Mete), or simply couldn't live up to high expectations (Day).

Like, that's a good list of solid D prospects. I even forgot some.

He probably is, but that has nothing to do with Benning's moves.

He was part of that 5 stiff package the isles got from the leafs to get rid of grabner (who I actually wanted to keep) and the isles cut him.
