I looked in the wrong game situation column and posted the numbers from all situations, rather than 5 on 5 play. Hagelin came in just under 50% at 5 on 5 play.

Kris Letang, and Justin Schultz were the only 2 Pens defenseman to have a CF% above 50% at 5 on 5 play.

I'm not going to argue with you page after page, so here it is, take it or leave it:

1. I watch hockey and like any sane person, I use a mix of eyetest and stats.

2. Because I watched the series, I didn't say that every single Tampa player was bad and that every single Pittsburgh player was good, based on stats. Because that would be stupid.

3. I said last night that Tampa deserved to be in a Game 7 but had been outplayed in the series, saving me the trouble of saying "Tampa certainly has some elite talent at the forward positions and probably caved in Ian Cole when he was on the ice, but that was likely more than offset by Crosby, Malkin and Kessel caving in Slater Koekkoek and Andrej Sustr, maybe even Jason Garrison and Coburn, when they were on the ice, hence the apparent incongruency of some personnel on Pittsburgh not having favorable analytics while consistently dominating segments of games and the series while outshooting and outchancing the Lightning at nearly every turn."

4. I would have said that because again, I can acknowledge that eye-test and stats are equally useful, have always said so, and will continue to do so.

But dude, if you just say that, you don't win and appear to be intellectually superior. And really, isn't that what's most important on the internet?

All the final World Cup teams are getting named today. The two made up teams make it a bit of a Mickey Mouse tournament, but I think it will still be fun to watch. This is TSN's predicted North America team (players must be 23 years or younger on 10/1/16).

Woof -- who's coaching them? That lineup could be really fun to watch

I'm actually really excited for the tournament and I am really hoping that the players who are in it are really pumped about playing

Will ghost be healthy by the time the tourney kicks off? I don't want him rushing back to play for some made-up team.

(frank) jon cooper.

but yeah. ridiculous. JT browns actually a pretty good fourth line guy. but drouin was making things happen all series.

i'm right there with you. if they let stamkos walk, so be it. might be better in the long run. move bishop for whatever they can and recoup assets there.

still have drouin, kucherov, johnson, palat all young and improving. hedman will always give you a chance to put together a good defense. and vasey is a stud. its not like he exactly came out of no where either, so its not likely to be some scott darling nonsense either.

First of all, none of the numbers that I posted were used to show any player is a good player, or a bad player. They were used to show what happened on the ice. They were used in rebuttal to your comments that you can't have lines who just hold their own. Not only can you, but you will have lines that either will just hold their own, or worse, in the playoffs and against top teams. No team is going to win every battle or situation. Top teams are just too good. Some players are going to be asked to play in situations and matchups, where they are going to lose the battle, and you just hope to limit the damage, so you can take advantage of other matchups and situations. You can't win every battle, you just hope to win the war. I also feel that the Pens were the better team throughout the series. Even saying that, it still went to 7 games, and the 7th game was decided by one goal.

I was thinking that too.

Thought he had like a 13 week recovery time. I wonder what say the flyers will have. Probably don't want to risk a reaggravation or set back for a tournament that doesn't do anything for them/

It's not reasonable. Unless you think it's totally normal to have the person who won't let anyone else quote a stat when they are making a point that he doesn't like turn around and not only quote stats but say those stats are showing what happens on the ice

Come on, man. Nobody cries simply because he responds to posts. It's when he starts busting out stats not even 24 hours after female doging and moaning that people using those same stats as an indicator that Erik Gudbranson is a third-pair defender-- which he didn't like -- that is ridiculous

My position and philosophy on the use of analytics has been consistent. They were used today in accordance with that opinion. I did not use any stat today to rate any player as a good player or a bad player. I used them for what I think they should be used for. To show what happens on the ice. So stating that my use of stats based on the Gudbranson conversation is ridiculous, is completely off base

It's ludicrous -- if he was even consistent, it would be fine. At least 2Real and some others, you know what you are gonna get

We should all copy the part where he says the advanced stats he quotes show what happens on the ice and superimpose it over his Gudbranson rebuttals

If I am the Flyers I don't want him or Giroux in this. Even Couturier I would want out. All had significant injuries that missed time. If I am the one paying them I would want them to have a full offseason to recover.

Studying and labbing for my CCIE.

Deciding if I should spend $1200 on an integrated tube amp from 1966 so I can play my Pink Floyd albums and feel like Im cool.

Item 1 sucks but item 2 is fun.
