That you would have generalfanager, at your disposal, worries me deeply.

Hahaha.

It's the internet. It's as much "at my disposal" as is a video of 6 midgets banging an obese lady with one foot.

I can see why. It's great, even has draft picks on the left side

this is crap

the Rangers won the president's trophy in 2014-15 and Girardi led the team in icetime

his decline was so apparent last year and that proves he was good until this past season

- jimbro83

For as bad as the D was this season Girardi was still a career best +18, how can a sucky defensman be a +18?

this really proves that +/- is a crap stat, because Girardi was absolutely horrendous last year

after years of being a rock on the penalty kill, Girardi was actually a detriment on it, which was an issue all year

Absolutely impossible to defend Girardi(pardon the pun) and his performance last season. He was a detriment almost every single time he was on the ice.

They all were. Still never saw so many opposing players on their PP standing alone for an easy tap in at the side of the net.

I agree but he's not as bad as he's made out to be, I believe he will be better with a full offseason, I'm with Jimmy that if they buy him out that's cool too

I would, I think he got exposed last year once he started to get top pairing minutes, but his reputation probably exceeds his talent level and he'd get a good return

I'm confused regarding the buyout commentary that the cap hit would change over time- isn't it simply a matter of adding total dollars remaining on a deal, wiping out one-third of it and paying it out over double the length of contract years left? Wouldn't that be the hit each and every year until the player is paid in full?

I actually think he will bounce back next season. I don't expect him to be the guy he was, for the majority of his Ranger career, but with reduced ice time and a full offseason to recuperate I think he can be a decent player next season. Besides, I don't think Gorton is keen on dead cap space for a bought out player.

In some cases the cap hit, on a bought out player, fluctuates from year to year.

Klein did get exposed once he was saddled with more ice time. Hence the reason I would try to pull the trigger on moving him out now if possible.

Interesting. I didn't realize he was that old. I always see the upside of Klein, with his IQ, vision & skating. But I agree, having him on the first pairing without McD was not as comforting.
I kinda feel like our back end is fine the way it is (fingers crossed on recovery time=improved play) with Keith Gamble and Boyle walking. But, I agree Klein would fetch assets. And packaging with Hayes (who I think should be the first guy shopped) could really bring something back.

TJ and JohnnyNYR were about to throw down, chiefs jumped in right before it started, exposed himself, and we all got a good laugh.

The way the Rangers looked in the playoffs inspired little confidence against any opponent, honestly.

Pittsburgh is very good but the Rangers poor play was just as big a factor, in their first round loss, as much as anything else.

Don't think they could have beaten my old high school travel team let alone the Florida Panthers.

Assuming he's extended that is. Acquiring him now eliminates the concern until he's a free agent next summer.

Blues will not let him go for anything less than a haul though. They don't necessarily have to trade him even with the emergence of Paraylko(sp?).

Not sure if they have any right side defensive prospects, in their system, but trading Shattenkirk really weakens the strongest part of their team: their top four defensive rotation.
