How about waiving Nash and hope some desperate stupid team picks him up and using that to sign Stamkos? Would Buffalo or Florida be interested in Girardi or Staal?
Hey remember when I suggested trading Stepan to Wild for Dumba and Jimbro laughed at it. - wileypuck
coming off the President's trophy, game 7 of to the conference finals I thought the Rangers would contend like everyone else did in 2015-16 and trading their #1 center last summer would have been ridiculous

things have changed
did, you watch this past season? - jimbro83
yes I watched this past season I suggested this then and again around trade deadline. You know there is no law against trading a player when their value is high. If he is your #1 center then you have a flawed team to begin with. I wanted to trade Nash after last season most including you disagreed thinking he was going to break out in playoffs sooner or later. Now they are stuck getting pennies on the dollar IF they can find a team to go to and if he waives his no trade clause. Also wanted to move on from Girardi and Staal thinking the style Torts had wore them down and Staal was another ranger draft pick the team and fan base overvalued. Again most of the comments not all thought Rangers needed to retain them. Seems fans have way more loyalty to players then the players do to team. Even watching Rangers in Cup finals they were clearly overmatched and thought this core while good was not good enough.
