I love McD and all, and Yandle was good in his own way, but NYR hasn't had a top dman in forever (Leetch). Need a guy to be able to take over a game like Burns..Easier said than done,

McDonagh is capable of it. Just look at the SCF particularly the Montreal series.

Absolutely. Has he played at that level since that series consistently? Defensively, yes but it was his offense that series that really made him dominant. Hopefully he can find some of that offensive upside again.

Several significant injuries later and the jury is still out on McDonagh getting back to that level we saw against Montreal.

Since I have been watching this franchise Brian Leetch against Vancouver is the standard.

Messier against Jersey in 94, mostly due to one particular third period, will forever stand out.

Richter against New Jersey, in '97, was incredible.

Gretzky against Florida, in 97, comes to mind as well.

Which is exactly why we should be trading for a good offensive Dman. Something like Nash and Girardi for Erik Karlsson.
