Should be a good series. Pens, when they are playing well defensively, really protect Murray well and keep the shots against extremely low.

Gut feeling, Pens in seven, hope I am wrong and the Sharks continue to put impressive offensive numbers up but Pittsburgh has the team to win it all.

Sharks seem to be on a mission. Their past early exits have really motivated them.

It simply comes down to every important facet, on a hockey team, clicking at the same time.

Teams that make deep playoff runs need their top offensive players to show up, their team defensive game to be on point and their goaltending to be top notch.

San Jose has been the most impressive team, so far in these playoffs, as they easily beat a good Kings team, outlasted a tough Preds team and dismantled a good defensive team in St. Louis.

San Jose can definitely win it all here but there is something about this Pens team that has the look of a winner. If Murray gets exposed a bit, and the Sharks have the offensive talent to do just that, it will be hard to overcome for Pittsburgh.

This series, like both conference finals series and many other playoff series, is really a coin flip. Some bounces one way or another will determine the winner.

The Sharks are the team of destiny this season. If I wasn't a Pens fan, I'd be jumping on their bandwagon. They have a phenomenal core that's gotten a lot of unjust criticism over the years because they keep running headlong into the Kings' dynasty year after year. Plus it's really hard not to root for Jumbo to get a Cup.

They make me really nervous, but we are also a very good and resilient team. This should be an amazing series.

Two evenly matched teams, that's for sure.

The way Thornton, Pavelski and Couture are playing they easily stack up against the Pens big three of Kessel, Crosby and Malkin.

Burns is as much, if not more, of a difference maker than Letang and I like San Jose's defensive core better than the Pens.

Each team has good depth at forward and are well coached. It's going to come down to which inexperienced starting goalie blinks first and most. Jones looks pretty unflappable in net but so does Murray. I do feel Murray has gone relatively untested, for the most part, in these playoffs and the Sharks have enough offense to seriously test him.

You're right, it is a coin flip.

You look at each team's goalies and you see Martin Jones on one end and Matt Murray at the other...makes you wonder if building from the net out with Lundqvist is the wisest thing to do.

Criticism was just for this team. Running into a good Kings team doesn't excuse them for choking a 3-0 series lead in 2014. Thornton looks to be on a mission and he has a lot of help in Pavelski, Burns, Couture, Marleau, Ward and Co.

They made many pundits look like clowns as many thought the Sharks were on the verge of a decline heading into this season.

They have really good depth, made some solid under the radar moves last summer and, as you stated, had a strong core of talent still there.

As a hockey fan, this is going to be a great series to watch.

As great as Hank has been, and it's not his fault this team hasn't won since his time here, his salary does cause issues for the team to address other needs.

It's a Catch-22 really, Hank playing great helps the team win but his great play means he is going to get paid accordingly. Meanwhile, the Rangers shortcomings, that Hank covers up, continue to not get addressed accordingly because there is not enough money to do just that.

Is it safe to say, since the 2000 draft, that the two biggest steals have been Lundqvist and Pavelski.

Pavelski is such a great player.
