So we give them bailey for a 2nd and who on their team - Upstate_isles
Virtanen and Baertschi probably. Benning will throw in a 4th for good measure. |

Which one of you (frank)ers killed the Oilers thread? Did it have anything to do with de Haan for Hall? |

Do Ranger fans really think they will get Shattenkirk for Nash? even if the Rangers ate half of Nash's contract I would never do that if I were the Blues. |

The "D" is the most settled and solid unit in this team right now. It's the unit that needs the least attention. Yes, every team could stand to add a top 4 Dman and every team could stand to improve their defense, but that's a lot easier said than done. With the expansion draft looming and the issues with the top nine and what to do with goaltending, the last unit the isles should be worrying about is the "D". |

Seriously, Snow should just call up Jim Benning and just start arbitrarily asking for their good players. Literally no harm can come of it.
"Hey Jim, we told Bailey we're looking to potentially move him and he said he really loves British Columbia. How about Virtanen?"
"Garth we really like Virtanen, would you take Horvat and 2 firsts?" |

"Marek Zidlicky and Brian Strait are both unrestricted free agents and will not be back." Please God be true... please.. addition by subtraction. Isles are immediately a better team with this point alone than last year.
I am not worried at all about Boychuk. I don't care what he said in his exit interviews. The guy could barely walk when I saw him at Iceworks... and he was getting better as the playoffs progressed. He will be fine next year and is a HUGE guy to have in locker room.
I could see DeHaan being moved at trade Deadline next year once they are more comfortable with Pulock moving to top 4.

Blues pretty stacked on Defense. Gunnerson, Boumeester and Pietrangelo signed for 3 or 4 more years. Shattenkirk is UFA next year and will cost a lot to resign. Lindbohlm, Parayako, Edmunsun, Bortuzzo, all young solid prospects... I could see them making this move. Especially if Rangers eat Salary and get a pick. |

That would kind of defeat the purpose though. Plus would the Rangers be able to re-sign what Shatenkirk will be looking for after next year? Probably not. |

In all honesty, I don't think Rick Nash could possibly have any less value than he does right now. I think he plays out the season and the Rangers explore trading him either next offseason or at the 2018 deadline. He's coming off a career-worst year and makes a lot of money. No team is going to trade anything valuable for him when they have to commit that much money for two full seasons. |

Kind of the Rangers's M.O... no? Give up the future for right now.. Yandle, Staal, St. Loius, etc. I easily see them making this move eating 1 or 2 mill of salary to get it done. Not sure how I feel about it which probably means it makes sense for both teams...no?
Blues let Jackman go without getting anything back for him... don't see them doing it again with Shattenkirk. |

Thing about Nash though, he was injured a good portion of the year, also he tends to do the alternating good Nash/bad Nash every year. Next year he scores at least 30 during the regular season.
I do agree with your general statement though about the money. Its why niteislander is right they would have to eat salary but at that point it just makes sense to just keep Nash. Also if he is having a very good year next year and the Rangers as a team aren't doing well, could be a deadline move for a desperate team. |

True, its the way they have been going, and I can't blame them lately. Just have a feeling Rangers are going to pretty much stand pat and make some minor role player moves.
Don't get me wrong, I would love to get Shattenkirk and somehow lose one of Girardi or Staal off the books, but unless one of those 2 is gone, I don't see the Rangers doing anything significant on defense. |

WTF DID Vancouver JUST DO - Dan Petriw
initially when I heard about this I was thinking it was just an odd trade, before I heard about the picks. Vancouver needed another defenseman, but giving up the 33rd overall and a 4th to get back a 5th, and giving up mccann? They're going to have to offer gudbranson 5 mil per to keep him....and he'll slot into THEIR top four, but he's not a top 4 guy.
the picks kill me. a rebuilding team repeatedly tossing away 2nd round picks...
I liked what I saw from mccann as a 19 y/o on a team that really struggled to score goals. He's weak on draws but that's expected stepping up from the ohl to nhl. I don't think florida needed another center, but I think Vancouver overpaid in a big way.

it makes sense b/c Henrik is not getting younger. window on him is clearly closing.
blues need to sign Backes and Brouwer. just losing Shattenkirk and Ott gets them over 7 mill in cap room. |

I think Nash is a better player than Gomez ever was. When the Rangers signed Gomez for 8 million a year, i wanna say he was coming off a 12 goal season. Bananas!!!! |
