HAHA that guy in Dallas was probably so confused. I guess it makes sense given how much Dallas loves football. I did like Dallas when I was there two weeks ago - seems like hockey has really grown in that area. I don't usually get frustrated trying to explain sports... trying to teach my mother how to use her phone on the other hand

Oh yeah I know all about trying to explain superstitions! During the 1997 Red Wings cup run vs Philly (sorry Jillian ) I began growing my annual spring playoff beard. Well my girlfriend at the time didn't mind it at first. I just told her that Brad Pitt did this sometimes and so then she was a ok with it.

So by the time June came around it was getting a bit long. Not Brent Burns or Joe Thornton level but....long enough!

So she was asking me why I was doing this and could not understand why. I explained to her about the original. The New York Isles of the early 80s started it and the tradition was born. She thought it was ridiculous. So she then tells me she is not kissing me until I "shave that thing off " So I say "sweetheart I've waited my whole life for the Wings to win a Cup. I can wait to kiss you." Well that didn't go over too well!

It all worked out in the end though. Wings won the Cup and I shaved off the beard so I became kissable again.
