If the Leafs have such a deep prospect pool and a lot of draft picks stocked one would think they would package their later picks and lower end prospects in an attempt to move up and get more quality before their farm gets crowded and potentially impedes development of depth prospects.

I agree, but on a more basic level, if they want to promote their good jr prospects to the A (or ECHL), they'll need pro contract space to begin with, which indicates to me they're gonna start trading some dudes from the last two drafts and some picks.
