If Stamkos plays game 7 he is going back to Tampa imo. No reason to take this career risk unless he is committed to the Lightning. That said, I doubt he plays. - Leafsandbolts
No reason other than the chance to be the first to hoist the Cup. Or is that not a reason?

Still butthurt about Zaitsev, eh?
Tell BINGO! that lube helps.
Oh, and if there's one thing the Memorial Cup has shown me, its that OHL>>>>>>>>>>>>>>WHL - WingmanWillie
Lately anyways...
The talent coming out of the O the past few years is scary...
I think Pu and Max Jones are showing that they are worth taking in the 1st or early 2nd round this year.. I know Patrick is next years draft, but hes barely been noticable.
Nobody here has any idea of what risk level stamkos is willing to accept in order to achieve the award of a Stanley cup. - Tumbleweed
If Tampa was to win the SC, his name would be added to the cup since he played 41+ seasonal games even if he didn't play a playoff game. That said, it wouldn't be the same.
Other players had played through blood clots but no big UFAs. I doubt his agent will support him playing game 7.

I think Leafs take Parsons with one of the other 3 picks in the first 2 rounds. I notice when Hunter was naming off players he liked from the Knights on the Sportsnet table, he left that name out.

You understand the nature of his blood clot and how it differs from guys like Dupuis and Fleischmann, right?

I doubt he plays too but I don't see the correlation between him re signing because he is playing with Tampa in the playoffs.
If he didn't get injured, he would have been playing and I don't think that would have made a difference either.
I think he's gone. Too big of a business deal to not have been finalized by now plus Tampa is doing great without him.
Do you not think Yzerman and ownership are thinking....hmmm we are winning without Stamkos, we are in cap hell if we give him what he wants and won't be able to sign all these young guys that are getting it done now....nah (frank) it, let's sign Stamkos to big money and screw the team that is winning without him.
People with money and a budget(cap) don't think that way.
Toronto has cleared the books of all big contracts, locked down a few key pieces long term with cap friendly deals and have a bunch of young talent years away from UFA/RFA....basically Tampa 3 years ago.

I wouldn't mind if they take a goalie or two...
But id rather some unknown Swede or Finn.. Parsons looks decent, but nothing spectacular imo...
that transfer agreement needs to be altered... one year of junior post draft should be enough
however that being said is the AHL is a very physical league as well... but it would be far easier to shelter marner from the media there.
i trust babcock tho.... he will use him in a way where he can learn and succeed at the same time... babs and management will also likely be very much on top of marner's exposure to the media... ensuring it doesnt become too much or a distraction - Dozzer
They are talking about increasing the draft age to 19 for the nhl. If so this whole ball of wax changes.

It is a non-issue for Stammer moving forward - WingmanWillie
Correct but right now there is a risk of playing on blood thinners while there are any remaining blood clots. If he decided to accept this risk and play game 7 it would be a turning point imo.
