I think the Leafs r in a good spot but need to add Stamkos so we can shelter both Marner and Matthews. U would have Stamkos, JVR and Nylander as your first line and that way u can have Matthews, Marner and Hyman on your second or third line. Obviously we need to get rid of either Bozak or Kadri in this scenario. Its a great time being a Leafs fan

That would be pretty awesome. I know the AHL is the next level but he has been dominant during the playoffs and coming up and stepping right into Marlies Playoffs could be a great experience.

Truth is critics or commentators - are rarely experts in their field. It happens but rarely. Think of a great movie critic that went on to become a terrific actor or director. Button just likes to hear his own voice. He is less of a toolbox than Pierre McGuire who almost puked when the Canadiens brilliantly picked Corey Price in the draft.

This isn't a decision about where to eat dinner. This is a decision based on his career, money and his future as a star player in a professional sports league.

He would be an absolute idiot if he hasn't thought about it. In fact, Stamkos and his agent have probably been discussing a plan for the past 2 years and have been negotiating/talking with Tampa management for the at least a year.

Obviously he is not going back to Tampa or it would have been done.

I would guess that even if Tampa came back with a mega offer, which is very doubtful considering their situation and how well they are doing without Stamkos, that he, Stamkos, has already made up his mind to go UFA.

Whether Toronto is the team or not....up for debate. I think yes.

As long as stamkos is in play, I don’t think we add dead salary.

If stamkos signs, with 2 years left on fayne’s deal, I would want salary going back to Edmonton. Nothing less than lupul imo.

Tampa would have a hard time paying Stamkos even the $8.5 reportedly offered. They will be in serious UFA/RFA hell next year, and will be lucky to keep current lineup even without Stamkos. The will unload a goalie at the draft.
