Look I'm sure he can outplay DD, Eller and Pleks, all of whom have crap contracts.
- Mr.FunFacts

i'd be happy if you guys sign him

He isn't outplaying Plekanec.
- PepinoPamplemousse

Maybe not but with patches and Gally he might spark, if i'm MB I would at least offer something small.

I'd give him a 1yr deal to prove he isn't done but I can't see him taking it, with his destroyed knee, he will take the longest deal possible.
- Symba007

Agreed, still at least make a small offer.

I think the best you can hope for out of him is a really good start and finishing up the season with about 40-45 points.

He's not giving you much in the second half of the year.

Agreed, the Habs need a top 6 forward. (at least one) Preferably a center. Look there gonna take a shot at Stamkos like 29 other teams should do. However we all know where Stamkos is signing. So they need to take a look at there options. Stall to me is an affordable risk depending on the hit and term.

The best you can hope from Eric Staal would be 35-40 reg season points and his persuasion to get all his brothers to join him the next season

"So I have been hearing for about two weeks now from an outstanding source familiar with the situation that the Ottawa Senators are very serious in making a pitch for Eric Staal. It truly sounds like Carolina is wanting to move on."

I only have a 4 year degree, since Carolina already moved Eric, is your source talking about Jordan?

Word was Eric was wanting to come back to Raleigh but the Canes don't really want him anymore.

Why would you want that? Only one of them has anything left in the tank.

Because if you get Eric Staal, eventually you'll also get one of Jared Staal, Marc Staal or Jordan Staal...addition by addition

The Sens have Zibanejad, Turris, Pageau, Smith, and Lazar at center. Why would they want Eric Staal? There must be a trade in there somewhere. Dominoes...

Could you imagine John Scott's contract?
Bonuses if he scores 4 goals, wins all star game mvp or ends the season with a plus/minus better than 0...

Except Jordan is the only one of the 4 that isn't a shell of what he once was.

A big no thank you to my Isles getting Yakupov, unless the trade was exactly this:

Yakupov for Halak and Grabovski. My isles get a kid who will never be a consistent offensive player for 2 guys who will never stay healthy.

To be fair, Yakupov is a solid player who A) is at the bottom of a depth chart full of riches and B) earned a reputation while playing under perennial jack adams contender Dallas Eakins.

This is still a guy who led rookies in goal scoring. At worst, which he probably is now, he is a 15-20 goal, 30-40 pt player

Imagine this guy on Tavares' wing

Yeah. Price shouldn’t be high, but it won’t be salary dumps.

Maybe something like cizkas & a 2nd or lee & a 3rd would be enough.

So how long is it before Staal and Phaneuf start taking slap shots at each other? Staal should be pretty safe, Phaneuf has a hard time hitting the net so hitting a player might be just down right impossible.

I heard Cizikas murdered some kid in a game of rugby. Since then, I've lost all respect for him...
