The Sens have Zibanejad, Turris, Pageau, Smith, and Lazar at center. Why would they want Eric Staal? There must be a trade in there somewhere. Dominoes... |

NJ is in no way interested in a declining centerman, who is on the wrong side of 30 and only scored 10 goals in 63 games with Carolina this year. Not to mention his cap hit.
no thanks - move along - nothing to see here |

Eric Staal is over way over the hill. Spending big money on that stiff will handcuff you for the term of his contract But some idiot GM will see glory days of the past but his glory days and like yesterday's news. Go with youth not geezers who cannot play anymore. Too many fat wallets and no return on your investment |

I don't think Staal's contract is terrible. A legit 2C for $6M isnt all that bad. I get the term is long but a shut down center with offensive upside will still be a tradeable commodity in 4-5 years.
Hell, even if the Pens season end in a cup win, I would still try to trade Malkin for Staal + if they want to move on from him. Crosby-Staal-Bonino is still the best center group in the league.
Eric Staal in Ottawa makes sense for a number of reasons. - MacPatty
Except he's not a legit 2C. At this point in his career he's not better then Zibby or Turris. Signing Staal would be a terrible move from Ottawa but EK having it marked as an E4 gives me confidence that it won't happen. |

He's talking about Jordan Staal.
But yes E.Staal is basically a middle 6 winger at this point. |

Most people thought he was underachieving in CAR. Now, with that playoff performance, seems like he's fallen off a cliff |

Yeah he wasn't underachieving, he just can't skate anywhere near how he used to since Edler took out his knee at the World Championships.
Alex Semin was never the problem in Carolina. Eric Staal losing his hands was.
EDIT: And Cam Ward, obviously. |

I wouldn't mind seeing the Habs take a chance on Eric Stall. Problem is whats the cap hit, I think Patches Stall Gally would make a decent first line. or you put stall on the 2nd line and let Chucky play on first line. Habs need a top 6 Center bad, to be honest they need top 6 forwards period. (at least Two) |
