Ok, there's #4 for Marner. Although he probably could have scored that himself.

Marner has one game to get 4 points for the record, and 3 assists for another record. Can he do it?

I suspect it will be a tighter game that what they've faced so far. I just want to see Marner pot another 4 points for the record so spatzo can tell us how great Perron is.

yes , In my mind he already has the record. I vaguely remember NHL scoring in the early 80's(cuz I was a titsucking baby) but I can only imagine Junior was garbage.

Even when I played in the 90's, I was a top pairing D on a major midget AAA player as a bantam player but 5'7". Three D-men who didn't even make the AAA team but had 'SIZE' got drafted into the OHL. I was never gonna play or go anywhere, but 2 of those 3 D were literally BIG GOONS.

The other guy had mad talent and once he got through his growth spurt he truly was better than me. He reffed in the Q years ago. I'm trying hard to break into to O in the next 3 years, but I'm too old(33).

Point is...back in the day, defense in all hockey was weak. But the junior leagues was "draft the biggest A-hole and see what happens" - after you draft the truly elite.

Drunken rant over. for now.

I re-read that and think it makes sense except the entire point was:

Marner's 13 points already in 2016 are better than some plugs 16 points in 198X.

It would be sweet, but I was living in N Ontario forever and not Sudbury or North Bay so no chance at OHL. I've worked Junior A and B. Done head ref midget AAA in both 4 man and 3 man systems(no reason for 3-man at this level other than to make us get exercise)

But I'm new to Ottawa. More competition and I'm unknown. I had to spend this entire year as a F'ing lineseman for the bigger games...Junior B, C(ick), midget and bantam AAA. To get supervised and stuff. I did it, next year I will be head ref - along the level I have been doing for 3 years.

It's fair. Can't just put some northern slug in there. But I prefer to be ref than lines and thats rare because it takes courage and conviction. At the same time I'm 5'7" so as a linesman I would never ever progress even if I was a (frank)ing beast.

Breaking fights and dropping the puck - IMO - are the toughest parts of the job.

Kapuskasing. Reffed Junior A in Cochrane when they got. Midget AAA in Kap. Midget AA(quebec league) in Hearst.

But that midget AAA league spans a lot of KM's. From Kap there is Sault Ste Marie 700km +. Closest team is Timmins 180km. Most teams from Kap are Sudbury and North Bay area aroudn 500km to 600 km.

Good times were had by all? I played from 97-00. I may or may not have slew-footed you or broke a stick on you in cross-check fashion. You may or may not have burned me one-on-one.

nice Thunder Bay has some seriously high quality hockey! We used to attend some tourneys as A/AA. But T Bay AAA is elite but not part of OHF. Same thing in Ottawa. They don't take part in OHF. But now in Ottawa we have enough population around for an 8 team AAA league at all levels. In Kap we only had AAA in midget and we pulled from all the towns around - as far as Kenora even which is closer to you guys.

Jon CheeChoo from the James Bay coast played his midget AAA as a super under ager in our town. I got to try-out one year he was playing. I was first year bantam and my try out was more "see what you're up against next year". But F nobody knew that was cheechoo. As a D I'm solid 1 on 1. I could stop Giroux(Hearst) 9 of ten times. But then...cheechoo owned me. Maybe he won the rocket cuz of Thornton, but holy F he must've done his part.

The kid is on fire.....He'll break the record, unless Perron somehow does it first.

Even Dzierkals and Pinch-an-inch impressed me tonight. Amazing how so many things are coming up roses for the Leafs right now. It's like the world has been tipped off its axis or hell froze over or something. Weird feeling.
