not a bad period boys. theres gonna be a tampa surge, and they will need to weather it.

cashing in on one of these plays in front would be huge too.

Glad to see Kunitz looking like Kunitz again too. That guy busts his ass.
- thickman1178

If he can play like this moving forward I'll shut the (frank) up about wanting to dump his contract this offseason. This is three/four good games in a row at this point.

Only real blemish that period was Malkin's penalty, IMO. Malkin's also plying with some jump though. Need him and Crosby to turn it up a couple notches though.
- Victoro311

Yes sir. Looked good, but god damn that penalty was just dumb

He's been for a while. Not sure there's a close second.

Murray is the obvious other choice... comes in end of the regular season and is still playing above average as a rookie goalie.

If im the coach i tell Malkin if he wants to retaliate ask the guy to fight. If its not worth let it go. I think hockey was like that once

Well he takes one dumb penalty a game, so its out of the way and we didnt get burned. Hopefully he feels shame and plays like a madman the rest of the way.

Malkin is an idiot. Stupidiest penalty on Callahan. Such a moron. If you can't withold that crap in an elimination play off game then you're just a bone head to the core. No hope.

Weird seeing Dingle and JR whole heartedly talk about us dominating with no qualifiers or conditions attached to it. We must be playing even better than I though, and I thought we were plying pretty damn well

Shultz has a rocket on the PP. I wouldn't mind trying him on the 1st unit.

I'd love if he could get it under control, about knee high.

Me too. At the end of the day that was a good contract. He "over produced" for that money for most of the duration of the contract. Next year would prob be an overpay, but he's still prob good for at least 30 points. I'm sorry Chris Kunitz

So if you look at the Kessel goal in slow motion, it actually looks a lot more purposeful than lucky. Really impressive. Bats up the puck with his blade, sees that it's going off target, and uses his shaft to redirect it towards the net. If you follow where he's looking, you can tell it was purposeful. Hell of an effort.

I'd love for him to replace Letang, but we need Letang to play D if Malkin fuks up. I hate Letang trying to QB the PP. He's just not good at it.

I'd say his control since coming here has been massively better than Letang's. This game sadly, the exception.

Good solid period with lots of opportunity. Got to finish some of these. Fehr bailed out Vasy with that shot. WTF moment for Malkin. Can't let that happen in this game or the next, if we are fortunate.

We were lucky on that power play considering who was in the box. Worked out well.

Have to keep going with urgency and keep firing on the net.

We have two of those hotheads that would get caught retaliating. The other is 58. Can't have that happen.

Malkin and Shultz up top then?

Letang cannot hit the net for some reason.
