I don't have a problem going into next season with MAF and Murray as a tandem. I think there are pros and cons of trading him. I'm more inclined to keep him and risk losing him, given Tampa's situation this season.. having a 1B goalie (regardless of who it is next season) in the wings in case of an injury is proving very valuable. - j.boyd919
How about in case of our situation? Look at how rusty Fleury is. Further more he wouldn't have come back until mid way through the Caps series. Would we have gotten through the Caps on the backs of Zatkoff and rusty Fleury? I doubt it. |

You've got several solid goalie options hitting UFA this season too. Neuvrith, Mason, Reimer... Bargain picks in Hutton and Ramo. Can't remember if Greiss is up or not. There will always be available goalies that drive down the price of other goalies in a trade. - Victoro311
Well Mason or Neuvy will be signed by Philly unless they are actively trying to lose at this point... quite possibly both and let them battle for the job.
Ramo was in Calgary so doubtful they resign him.
No one else moves the needle for me... not saying Fleury is a super star but he's the class of that group and a team like the Flames who had a taste of the playoffs last year and fell flat this year might be willing to part ways with some assets to get a 350 career win goalie at a reasonable contract. |

I know I get crap for this sometimes but nect year might have to be "sacraficed" goalie depth wise. I'd be happy with Murray and say Greiss splitting time for a total of say 3 million for the year.
The problem comes next summer when Murray is due 3-4 million per and Fleury doesn't get snapped up in the expansion draft.... now every trade partner knows he has to go and you get a 5th for him.... poor asset management IMO. |

I just don't see Philly signing both. Neuvrith has now done well on a garbage Buffalo team, backing up Halak in Long Island, and tandeming with Mason on a mediocre Philly team. That's a good resume. Some teams are going to offer him a role as a starter. Philly needs to decide between Mason and Neuvrith. |

I wonder where MAF's value stands. He's had some ups and downs over the years. You have to wonder what GM's really think of him. |

But say all we can get for him this offseason is a 2nd. What's worth more to this team? A second, or a year of an elite goalie tandem to backstop this contending core and a fifth? |

Well.. I just realized Mason is signed through 2017... so I guess their decision is made haha |

Honestly... I think it depends on how you view the other parts of the team... Kunitz especially.
If you think he has another season as a top 6 LW then yes, I'll concede your point 100%
But if that 5.75 million can be better used signing a younger top 6 LW so we're not forced to throw Sprong to the wolves day 1 while also adding another top 60 draft pick and or a prospect... then I don'yt know if it's as cut and dry.
And because we both suck.... Neuvy and Greiss are also signed through 2017 HAHAHAHA |

So now that we're seeing some of the higher end guys off the market and going UFA next summer does that change the landscape regarding this summer?... I think so |

Btw... anyone else loving that they made an entire blog to whine about that offsides call? |

And he listed the score as 4-2. Pretty sure empty net goals still count as goals |

Neither Mason nor Neuvrith are UFAs this coming year. They are next. If Calgary had goalie problems all year and Ramo was on the Calgary roster, then ...
Greis isn't a UFA, I don't think.
Does NYI trade Halak or Greis? What does Anaheim do with Andersson v. Gibson. Andersson is a RFA. I don't see the need for Philly to trade either of their goalies. There will be a market for MAF.
EDIT ... I SEE NOW PEOPLE BEAT ME TO THE PUNCH ON MASON. |

Still think a second round pick, or a third plus a good prospect. He would be one of the cheapest goalies to acquire value wise in the offseason. If someone calls Anaheim, or Tampa, they will be giving up a bundle, if those two want to move Andersson or Bishop. MAF's value isn't close to what those two are worth IMO.
