a long way from over... we've blown 3-0 leads in one period before and Tampa almost blew a 4-0 lead... long way from over. |

OMG if Fehr connected on that one ... would have put the lights out.
This is what I'm talking about with urgency and playing with passion. If this happened last game, we are a period away from advancing. I'd gladly will take game 7 in Pittsburgh though. - Oneonta Penguin
I was thinking if he could pass it back to bags for the little flip in goal |

i'm not considering this a march on by any means. TB will get PPs. but yes. THIS is the urgency. by everyone.
i still think crosby has had a good postseason overall, but when he isn't in bulldog mode he looks for a pass there first and foremost. - stayinthefnnet
Aside from the slashes.. game been pretty damn clean by both sides. Some typical clutch and grabs... but gonna be hard for refs to make calls without it being beyond laughable. |

Good have Sid converting Malkin's words into reality... would be nice if Malkin could do his own heavy lifting too. |

He has an assist... point a game type of play is nothing to complain about. |

i think crosby has taken a bit of unfair criticism, but thats gonna happen. letang, even aside from the goal, has really answered the bell defensively.
malkin had a jackass penalty. but i see the effort. just need to keep it up. |

IMO, Olli Maatta's playing well again. If Maatta can keep playing like healthy Maatta instead of injured Maatta, we can overcome the loss of Trevor Daley. |

Pens will be going into a shell for the 3rd. Hopefully Murray can weather the storm |

So long as we play like this, we can beat anyone. This is the Pens team we saw for 3 1/2 months. |

Ignoring the penalty, Malkin had a better first period than Crosby. Would love to see both take over the third. |

yeah i'm not even going just off of the secondary assist. he could have gotten that just from being out there and still been poop otherwise. but he's been present.
still a little hesitant to shoot himself. but he is chasing pucks hard, going after the play, making good passes.
its not just the little halfhearted wave of the stick as the play zooms past like the last 2 games. |

Can't let score effect happen. That would be very bad for us. |

Oh, don't get me wrong. I expect TB to get the next power play and another in the third period. The key is don't give them the chance to call it. Can't let them get the next goal and get some momentum. It seems like when the opponent scores one goal, the next comes soon after.

the one thing i'll give daley, is the had the ability to take a hit and still make the play.
i like some of what schultz is bringing, but he has a hard time getting hit and still getting it out.
but yeah. maatta looks much better. |

Yeah, in a lot of series there is a guy on the other team I think takes liberties and does cheap poop. Haven't really seen anyone on Tampa be sneaky or dirty though.
And the fact that they are accomplishing what they are without Bishop or Stamkos? They may look bad so far tonight but this team has my respect. |

Can't disagree with you. This is what we were missing in game four for the first two periods. We saw it down 4-0 in that game. Didn't see it in game 5 at all. Play like this, we can take anyone in our path.

Pens look great through two periods, but have had a hard time holding on to leads these playoffs. Still got to see this one through yet. |

Sometimes a game sitting can put things in perspective. Maatta didn't play bad in game 5 afters hitting game 4. Sheary is playing well tonight after sitting game 5.
Daley took a pounding in the first two rounds. The Rags and the Caps ran him hard. |

And that's why Schultz is on the third pairing. Third pairing guys will always have their faults/draw backs. What matters is that Schultz has been very much a net positive which isn't the norm for bottom pairing defensemen who are normally net neutrals if not not worse. These are things he can improve upon as his reclamation continues. |

I'm one of the biggest fans of these guys. I rarely ever criticize the stars, but It's time to be "clutch" in the playoffs. Time to show the world what we see on a nightly basis. It's fair to expect players like Sid and Geno to be in the top 5 in scoring in the playoffs....that's all I'm saying.

second all this.
tampa is legit. very balanced. come at you in waves. kucherov is a full on star. drouin is filthy. when callahan is on like he is tonight, he is a (frank)ing handful.
and bishop may be good in his own right, but vaslievsky was one of the most renowned goalie prospects in the game. he is showing he is a stud. |
