So apparently you're allowed to name call because you disagree. I'd respond, but I get banned because I'm not a cronie
- PatShart

See, it's dumbass statements like that that get you banned. Not "not being a cronie."

You do/say stupid, you get banned. Doesn't matter who you are.

You get banned a few times and then you feel like you're not "a cronie." Forgetting all the dumb/sutpid you said and did.

People are amazing sometimes.

Goal overturned in the Tampa-Pittsburgh game, very similar to the one in the Hawks-Blues series. Right call in both instances.
- Hank_Greenberg

The coaches challenge sucks!!!!!!! It ruins the game. No way that's offside at full speed and who gives a crap if it is. If he refs can't see it t full speed, let it go. Craptastic crap from crapatstan. What as bunch of crap. Crap.

I hope i don't get banned for crap.

Crosby and Malkin are both outstanding playmakers/point producers, but, they both play like whiny teenagers and that is why I'm rooting against Pittsburgh. Malkin with a terrible slashing penalty in the offensive zone. Zebras ALWAYS catch the retaliation....

They oughta review all the crappy icing calls they miss, then we'd waste all our time watching replays and checking frame by frame races to the dot. Crappy crap. Now every team has to hire a frame by frame analyst to watch the game for micro violations. Crap i tell ya.

By the way, i thought "the kempney you keep" was very good. Excellent title. Not crap.

The biggest gripe I have with the coach's challenge/review process is the 8" tablet screen the on-ice officials are basing the decisions on. Coach's challenge and all reviews should go to Toronto where a bunch of Canadians can look at 65" screens from every angle and make sure the call is 100% correct. The tablets are a complete joke, IMO.

I don't know. They're bigger than my phone, on which I watch the game from inside my bubble. You'd be surprised at the clarity of a tiny h d screen.

Depth Chart Not Suggested Lines/Pairings:

Panarin-Toews-Kane
??-Anismov-Hossa
Shaw(?)-Kruger-TT
Desi-Rasmussen-Panik

Keith-Hammer
Kempny(?)-Seabs
Gustaffson/Svedberg-TVR

Crow
Darling

The way I see it, if StanBo stands pat, the D-core is only marginally upgraded. Putting all his money on Kempny/TVR at 4D is a very risky play by StanBo. I just don't see Kempny playing with Hammer as it was clear last year that Q wants to use his 2 best defensemen against the opponents top line (Keith+Hammer). It also appears that Q doesn't trust the Keith-Seabs pairing to take on top competition either, for whatever reason. That leaves Kempny or TVR with Seabs. We have all seen the advanced stats of the Seabs-TVR or Seabs-Gustaffson pairings last year and they were BAD. Kempny looks to be a much better skater than TVR but playing on the open ice and against a lower overall talent level in the Worlds doesnt really tell us much.

Also, there is still a gaping hole at LW in the top six. Banking on Panik, Motte, Schmaltz, TT, ect to fill in at 1 or 2LW is simply praying to the hockey gods. If TT were able to handle ANY kind of physical contact and be even somewhat of value around the boards, he might be able to fit into the top six. After this season, and another summer of minimal powerlifting, I dont expect much change in his physicality.

So, going into the year with a roster like this and we are looking at almost the same team that lost in Round 1 (I dont care how close it was. Loss is a loss). I will certainly hope for the best if the roster looks something like this, but I will not be confident that they are equipped to win 16 playoff games. Defense depth, top 6LW, and bottom 6 scoring will be an issue, yet again.

Anyways, lots of summer left and Kempny is a great start for Stan. Maybe Lundberg can be a PK guy on the 4th line.

GO BOLTS!

- EnzoD

Hopefully Keith and Seabrook stay united. Would like to see Kempny play with a righty or Hjalmarsson.

The goalie with a 1 way deal definitely raises some eyebrows IMO

Insurance against Darling wanting a payday the organization can't afford. With Darling being a UFA after next year, the Hawk FO has no leverage. But they may have just created an EXCELLENT trade chip. 33

Like the move for immediate help and as JJ mentions the domino effect hopefully sends TVR to the 3rd pairing and I'll add it allows Sved and or Gus to work on their game in Rockford.

Guy has played in all the Czech big tournaments for awhile starting with WJC U-18 and WJC U-20 and has worn a letter a couple times: http://www.eliteprospects...m/player.php?player=18088

Anyone else find StanBow's use of the word sort of twice in describing Kempny's game odd? Is he tempering expectations and if so, why?

He can sort of play a well-rounded game, which I think as a defenseman, you’ve seen our team play a lot, you have to be able to defend for our coaches to be able to rely on you. He’s got that ability to sort of play both ways.”

- Mr Ricochet

I noticed this too and thought it was weird, but when I reread it I started hearing it as more of a vocal filler/stalling while you gather your thoughts rather than the literal "he can slightly/somewhat/to some extent play a well-rounded game." I haven't watched enough videos of Bowman to know what his vocal filler words tend to be, but a lot of people come across unintentionally equivocal because they've replaced saying "umm" with words/phrases like "sort of," "kind of," "like," "you know," etc.

But now you've got me back to thinking it was 100% literal, and his game is only partially well-rounded

I am neither Czech, nor Slovak, but my understanding is the two languages share a lot ands that they can basically understand one another speaking their native tongues.

To use an analogy: Italians and Spaniards can sort of follow each other as can Germans and the Dutch, the Czech/Slovak difference is not as bad. So I've been told.

We'll see what happens tomorrow. If SJ wins (yay), then I want them to win it all, but I think Tampa will be tougher for them -- so go Pittsburgh. If the Blues win tomorrow, I think Tampa has a much better chance at beating the Blues. We can't have the Blues winning the Cup. And while it would be great to see them lose in the Final, them merely getting to the Final would be almost too close for comfort.

I'm a bit unclear on your position regarding the coach's challenge.

I'm not crazy about the rule either (and don't even get me started on the ridiculous goalie interference challenge rule), but as long as it's in place, they might as well get the call right. I think that, in both the Hawks game and this game, they did.

What about getting a real top 6 LW?
- John Jaeckel

JVR. John, I am sure that would prolly be a multi player deal, prolly cost Shaw and TT but then Toronto would have to take Bickell and we get JVR and 1of their young D, so we don't have to look at 43&52. EVER!

Well ya, since they're stopping the game and making us all watch frame by frame like the Zapruder film, they better get it right.

Since we're talking, I always thought that on a breakaway penalty, ya know when you're awarded a penalty shot, that you should get the penalty shot, just to make up for the
breakaway AND a penalty. Cause it's a penalty. So, when I rule the world...

Aaaaaand here's where looking at scoring (points) only is, yet again, D-U-M

This is a valuable metric. What I'm more responding to is the comment that TT is being roasted for "not scoring enough." OK, that's stupid.

Going back to the Powers article, it is GREAT that the Hawks are emphasizing his defensive game first. Kids like Teuvo and Kane and some others come into the league and they know they can score, everyone knows they can score. But to become really effective NHL players, they have to get much better without the puck than they ever have.

Teuvo has BETTER defensive instincts than Kane ever had coming up. A great thing to build on. Plus the undeniable hockey sense, good hands, etc.

What concerns me a little is that the Powers piece talks about Teuvo spending time with his buddies out in the city, and playing golf and tennis.

I GUARANTEE you if this article was about Panarin or Tarasenko, they'd be talking about, yes, things like riding motorcycles, but also, definitely, spending hours in the gym. And not flexing in the mirror or hitting on chicks either.

It does not seem to be a priority for him and that is something to be at least a little concerned about because strength and physical confidence is what is holding him back right now across the board, with and without the puck.

- John Jaeckel

TT looks similar without pads to Kruger....Never going to be big guys so they have to work hard to be strong and stay healthy.
