Also for years JP was a distant third in the SJ batting order...They paid their 2 big guys a lot and tied them up....Fortunately they were able to control JP long enough until he proved to be most important to the team....and became a key to success at a great price.

Good point. Saad was likely the closest thing we would have to something like JP, but he obviously broke the bank immediately after the ELC. I'm wondering if Saad had the same type of season last year for a team like Calgary or EDM, if he would have gotten the same kind of contract.

Would be great to see some more of our young guys come along a bit to provide some solid early returns.

it worked...i thought the sharks were done and moving toward a rebuild with aging 12 and 19..but pavelski exploding along with burns and a few younger guys and they have are formidable...remind of the hawks during cup years: when they decide to play 200 foot defensive game...they win

Correct and unless everything falls in place many times for more than one reason a Saad or Pavelski don't stick around. Here there are not only two big money guys but a bunch.

They're still goons. I think Hitch will unfortunately be gone and possibly Backes, too. They're not without talent, so if a better coach harnesses that talent and tones down the stupid, they'll be better.

Along those lines, im kind of hoping that TT has about the same kind of year next year that he did this year. Give him a little bump (like low$2M) and keep growing his game to something better. I think he has a lot of upside but needs to grow into it.
