Hockey changes.. Players have become more skilled since his best seasons with MSL... The one-timer isnt a big deal anymore. Yes hes good, but not a top 3 player anymore.

That's why I (only imo) think they'll tank somewhat again. Bring in Matthews and Nylander but keep Marner down. Play with Greening, Laich and the other schmucks. Although I've been wrong before

I (frank)ing hate the "cap issue in the future" dumb ass argument. I'm sure the brain trust that works for the Leafs has a very good handle on it. So if Stamkos gets $11m/year, the staff knows how it will all work out 4 years from now.

He is a perfect age and perfect fit for our team. He can mentor the young while shielding them from the press. That in of itself has a million dollar/year value.

(I really wish Lou would shut down the TO press for the kids....Nylander, Marner, Matthews should be free from press for year #1 except maybe for non-game day low key type stuff. But nothing on game days.)
