I'm telling you, it's going to happen.

My guess would be the Rangers as well. If they want use any of their Cap room on Martin be my guest.

Sorry I ruined your Tuesday
- eichiefs9

Nah it's not ruined there are guys that can hit and do more than him, half his hits are started when he's still 10 feet away and the guy has already passed it out of the zone. Having the best fourth line in hockey is super and all but having no second or third is a problem.

I honestly wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised to see him get over $3M. He'll be wanted by a bunch of GM's and it's only going to drive his price up.

I'll be the first one to say it:

Matt Martin will be a Ranger next year. Sydney has family ties in the area, the Rangers are going to want to upgrade their fourth line with the departures of Moore and probably Stalberg. He'll probably take slightly less to stay in the area than he would get going elsewhere, but it'll be more than the Isles want to (and should) pay him.

Probably right even though Boomer mentioned on air a couple of weeks ago the Rangers can't afford him. I've said from the beginning I'm fine with letting him walk as long as they bring in a similar style player. Can't get softer

Its why I don't think its happening unless Martin comes over for a lot less. As much as I like Martin, no way the Rangers are paying 3mill for him.

Exactly, it's not like anyone is suggesting replacing him with a fluffy little bunny to play LW. We are entirely capable of finding another scrappy winger that can actually play hockey. I love Martin as a player, I really do, but for what he provides and what he's going to get....I'll wish him the best of luck and send him packing. I'll be the first one to give him a standing ovation in his return to the Barclay's too.

I mean, you're losing $2.6M if you say goodbye to Moore/Stalberg. Is it unreasonable to think that they'd let Lindberg center the 4th and have Martin as the LW at ~$3M?

Agreed. They really need to upgrade their physicality/toughness on their top 3 lines, not just concentrate it on the 4th. That's why signing a Lucic or a Ladd or similar type player is important.

I would not give him 3 mill. Martin will not put the Rangers or Islanders or anyone else over the top.

Are they saving $$ to give Tanner Glass a raise?

Miller, Kreider, Hayes all rfa's. I don't think they will have the bucks to waste. Still have Glass for another year. If Glass was gone, I would say maybe.

I agree. If Stamkos does not happen then Ladd or Lucic need to be signed.

Agreed I love it when the talking heads say isles are physical, well one line was you need it spread out up and down the line up that's why a Ladd Lucic or Backes would be good even Brower. Tough doesn't mean steamroll everyone or fight it means finishing checks taking them to make plays going to the dirty areas and wearing your opponent down.

I was laughing when NBC was calling the Isles a physical team. They have one line that is physical.

You really want Kreider....

What would be the offer sheet? I just want to know what we are getting for compensation.
