Agreed the kid can fly and has tons of skill dal colle may be #4 behind barzal beaulillier and ho sang. He's similar to kabanov in the fact that teams passed on him because of perceived attitude problems even though he had skill.
- Upstate_isles

He's got a lot of realization on how the real-world works to attain. He could have the most pure offensive skill out of any of the four of them.

I get his whole shtick that his parents taught him to be "unique" and not to fit anyone's preconceived mold of what they think he should be, but he also has to live in the real-world and understand that he isn't changing the culture of professionalism in the NHL. He's not going to turn the NHL into a safe-space where you can outspokenly question the coaches decisions in front of the rest of the team and try to do things the way you want to.

It's not a matter of "who's mindset is right" vs. "who's mindset is wrong", but more one of "you're 20 years old and you aren't changing the entire culture of an NHL team or the league".

It makes for a good story that Ho Sang is self-confident, and it's good for him personally, but it really doesn't accomplish anything other than ruffling the feathers of everyone else that has their serious adult-face on and is trying to do their job.

I hope his skill pans out to be useful at the professional level, but I'm not super confident that it will.

Halak has played 30 Playoff games. That is not a big enough sample size? how many playoff games qualifies it to be a decent sample size?

He has a .924 save % and a 2.39 GAA.

Lundqvist is .921 save % and a 2.28 GAA
(this year 4.31 and .867 save %)

I am not calling Halak top 5.. just saying stats wise He is Clearly a top 10 goalie in the league. He plays very well in big games and I don't want to give him away for nada.

by the way His Halak vs. Lunqvist lifetime is something like 9-0.

To me that screams that that coach is a schmuck. Let's not forget the guy is still 18-19 years old. Maybe they had their differences, but HoSang went on to do well and was praised by his new coach.

It would really be something. I'd probably be happy with Lucic and Ladd.

Usually staple is preparing us for all things they aren't going to do. This article actually makes me think they may make a splash. I can see Lucic if la can't sign him because of boychuk and Stamkos coming here if he wants to be on a team that can compete right away. Outside of those two Ladd would be the guy I'd target

Staple does do that. I have to think the Isles will try to make a splash. Have to think they will be more attractive to FA's now.

Staple is right in that article, the Islanders are probably the most competitive team that has/can make the cap space to sign him at-or-around the price tag he needs.

And I couldn't agree more about the general tone of this article. This time every year Staple is usually writing an article or tweeting something that is, seemingly, "preparing" the fan-base not to expect any high-profile signings or that there is only a very, very outside possibility of them happening or that Snow will "do his due diligence".

I didn't get any of those overtones in this article. I've said it a few times, I just have a feeling the Islanders are really going to make a splash this offseason.

Not in any way saying the "tone" of the article means we're signing several high-profile free agents...but I do think that it means that Snow is going to realize he needs to get it together and stop trying to build almost exclusively from within.

The tone was very different. Stamkos gets to FA and I think the Isles will throw him a big deal and especially if they can move guys like Halak and Bailey. I cannot wait to get the offseason going. Bring on the draft and then FA.

Would make sense the new owners wanting to make a big splash in terms of players.

Not only that the isles now have their TV deal and the 52 mil from Barclay's they are no longer hemorrhaging money. Unreal their old lease gave like 90% of parking and concessions away. This alone should mean they can spend more because they have a guaranteed income. I also can't wait for the draft and free agency

I'm almost positive that the $50M Barclays number was not true. There was a ton of speculation that the number was closer to about $15M-$20M. Still not chump change, but a lot less than originally reported.

Regardless, much better than the garbage deal they had at the Coliseum.

It was reported, but then not too long after the deal went through I remember there being a ton of speculation that the actual number was nowhere near that. I haven't the slightest idea what it actually is, but that seems like a lot of money for the Barclays center to fork over just to host Islander games.

No clue how much revenue there actually is per each Isles home game, but it would have to be well over $1M+ in profit, per home game, for that to be a viable business plan.

Put it this way, if the Isles don't get at least one of the bigger UFA (Lucic, KO, Stamkos, Eriksson) they will take a massive step back next year unless Strome turns into a 70pt player.

Morning Ladies and man ( you can fight amongst yourself to figure out whom is the man, but we all know it's the guy who fishes )

What would a realistic off for a Ho-sang be? Is he still a work in progress or has he burnt his bridges?

The only thing that will keep Ho-sang back from playing at least 300 games in the NHL is himself. He apparently has learned his lesson, but of course actions will speak louder than words. If he didn't "skip" training camp last year he'd still be worth his draft value (late 1st rd).

I am fairly certain it works out to just under 30 mill (Rangers get 45 ish mill to play in NYC). Combined with the Cable dealt that is 50+ mill before selling a ticket, Jersey, beer, etc. They also get a percentage of the concessions at games. That was not the case in NVMC as SMG got all $ from parking, concessions, etc.
