I will keep saying it: tossing aside Pysyk and Girgs now would be a mistake for 2 reasons.

Now their trade value sucks, and

Most "experts" say the vast majority of good players come from the first 2 rounds of the draft. Getting rid of two former first rounders at the ages of 24 and 22 because they had one crappy year each is not wise, cool, smart, or any other complimentary adjective out there. It is reactionary and short-sighted.
If they have bad camps and get shuffled into the press box this year, then f' them, but I think both will be good for us.

- LandlordTom

pysyk, not even sniffing the second pair
health issues
looks lost more often then not this past season

when a 18 year old, guhle looks better then pysyk in training camp, there is serious issues

girgens, for one reason or another does not play coaches system, injury prone, lost his edge last season
he is not anchoring the third line, played shotgun on the wing for cal o reilly
larsson leaped over him on depth chart

these 2 guys were not drafted by murray, and unlike mccabe, these 2 are not the young players murray brags about in interviews

the goal is for this team to get better, and if the right deal is out there, to upgrade the top half of the roster these 2 are and should be in play

I love ROR, I think he's excellent, but even he is a little over rated. He's a great 2nd liner, one of the best. But people want to put him with the elite centers in the league.

only jack sniffs first line talent IMO on this roster

Agreed but i think most non-fanatics had ROR only being top till Jack was ready for it and then you'd have a great 1-2 for centers

Reinhart too, but I have serious questions about how good he will be. I think he's gonna be really good, just underwhelming for a 2nd overall pick

I don't disagree with this...yet, if players like Ennis & Girgs regress back to their mean shown over the past 2 seasons, the team will have improved, yes?

Pysyk is a solid 3 pairing, nothing wrong with that...what is wrong is expecting him to be much above that. Therefore, if some team wants him and TM can extract higher value, go for it! The fact that Guhle outshown him for one Training Camp is good news in terms of Guhle's potential...hopefully he shows continued growth this year and gets call-ups during the season. GMTM is gong to need to hit on a few more of these picks in rounds 2 and 3 going forward.

So, what's everyone's latest thoughts on McGinn? Should the Sabres go after him?

I must say that I'm kinda over the let's sign him thoughts, especially given his salary expectations. I have nothing against him except the cost will be higher than the production...and paying that kind of money for a 3rd line guy is tooo much.

The value of #4 is way overblown, Guhle, Pysyk, and one of Nylander, Dubrois, Joulevi for Tkachuk. No thanks overpayment.
- sskkoo1

I didn't say I'd want to do it. I just said it might get you close to moving up to 4. Proposals on here including Foligno and other garbage thrown-ins gets you a dial tone.

I'd rather just grab Juolevi at 8.

Joel Ward and Justin Williams both signed last season for a little over 3 mil and both are very productive, I don't see Mcginn being worth more than them.

I'd rather sign a Stempniak or Parenteau for less and get more production.

Rumor no one will believe. My source says we plan to offer max contract at 7 years to Stamkos on the first possible day.

Personally I don't like it.

Don't know, but anything over 8 ain't worth it. Not to mention could it be any more obvious with Tampa knocking on a repeat SCF appearance? You need a good, well rounded team. Not a cap locked team.

IMO he is too slow, plus the wonky back

love the player, not his durability

For the record I do not seek out this info. In fact I am so disillusioned with Pegula run teams I prefer not to know what they are thinking.

i thought you couldnt have one player making more than 20% of your payroll. if we were at the cap that would be 14.8 assuming we were at the 74m cap, but we are not.

How much of a raise does he really deserve? I don't want to pay Foligno more than 2.5 a season...

Both guys I seriously was hoping we'd go after last year.Maybe Tm identifies and goes after this year's version of them....maybe that's for another year or two from now when we sniff the playoffs.
