What pisses me off about that, is that it's not climbed in a sustainable way. I don't want to see it ruined for the sake of thrill because some dude/dudette has enough money to attempt it.

I know a guy who did the climb to base camp last year. It was as part of a fund raiser for charity. Everest has become a destination. Not sure the loss of the original pristine mountain challenge can ever be recovered.

My best climbs were with 4-5 guys over 2-3 days and nobody else on the mountains.

Not that it's surprising, but Steve Simmons is such a douche. Just read a bit where he says in his first conversation with him, Babcock said 'I don't go off the record.' Then he asked about Kessel and Babcock said 'can I go off the record?'....you don't then go and tell people that, the inference is clear. That's not going off the record, even if you don't reveal what he said. That's shoddy even by his standards.
