Obviously Montreal's first round pick would be a massive overpayment for Yakupov. Is there second round pick enough to get a deal done.

I'd take Eller's and a pick for Yak if the offer's on the table. It'd help shore up the bottom-6 and he seems to have enough talent to play spot duty on a 2nd line with one or two of the highend offensive talents we have. Add a pick we could use in another deal or to help improve our prospect pool and it makes for a deal I'd be comfortable with.

Eller doesn't fit in Edmonton. No need at this time for another C. And after his comments from 2 years ago I doubt they want him in their locker room.

So...you're convinced we won't need a 3rd line center after. PC Finds us a top pair defender? We have a need for a player that can't be bought for magic beans and pocket lint, and replacement players to back fill.

100% Bubba. You are the real.

Plus, I'm pretty sure either RNH or LD won't survive the summer as Oilers if we have any hope of getting an actual D man...we will need some center depth.

He seems better suited to the wing from what I've seen of him. Kinda gives the feel of a less aggressive Pouliot sans the egregious penalties.

I can't possibly see Chiarelli moving Draisaitl out. He fits the description of almost everything he wants: size, skill, two-way ability, and a great work ethic. All he's missing is snarl. He's likened RNH to Krejci so there's evidently some fondness there as well, but the German just is too perfect of a fit for this team. Despite my preference of having Cs, I just don't see Eberle and Yak bringing back an adequate filler for the hole on our backend.

Could they need a 3C? Sure. But there are plenty of better options in my mind. Add on top of it the comments he made regarding some of the players that will be on this team and it doesn't make sense. He's a bigger guy that doesn't necessarily play with that size and doesn't provide a ton of much else.

I wouldn't trade Subban if i was the canadiens GM, but if they traded Subban to the Oilers, would Nail Yakupov be part of a package for Subban?

If the Habs trade Subban they want Hall back. And then they'll need to replace their GM.

It'd have to be one hell of a package. Something like RNH, Yak, Nurse, and a 2017 1st and even then I don't think Montreal would do it.

Eller would be a good fit. With him the lines could look something like this

Maroon-MCD-Eberle
Hall-drai-?
Pouliot-nuge-Eller
Kassian-letestu-Hendricks

And with ellers ability to play centre late in games while trailing you could see

Maroon-mcd-eberle
Hall-RNH-drai
Pouliot-Eller-?
Kassian- letestu- Hendricks.
Obviously there's a potential to lose ebs or nuge this offseason so I would welcome the depth Eller would bring. If the oilers can get over what kassian did I'm sure they will have no issue getting over what Eller said years ago

.44PPG vs .35PPG says otherwise. Not to mention gross misuse of Yakupov for a good portion of that time. By no means do I think Yak is a great, nor even good player, but his value is greater than that of Lars Eller. And yes even more than that of Lard Eller and a 3rd.

You're assuming there's no chance nuge gets moved. Which isn't fact

Plus, i can see chiarelli hoping to keep the other rw if one of em gets moved (Ebs or yaks) instead of totally gutting the right side by moving both. That said, he'd be looking to move nuge instead of ebs.

And in that case, I think Eller + something middling is reasonable value at this point

Or even if McClellan wants Leon on the wing and nuge Centering that line, we'll then need a 3c. And Eller is at worst s decent one. Potentially a good one

Fair enough on the Kassian bit, but he brought something they needed and didn't cost them anything. It in fact saved them $1.5 million.

Yakupov Could get the Oilers a 1st round pick, maybe 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, or 18th.

Really good post

Ellers got some skillz even if he's abit of a question mark. And as far as his comments a few years ago; absolute non issue

Because offense is all that matters. Eller kills penalties, is a larger body, makes fewer mistakes, and produces around the same rate at even strength (25 in 79 to Yak's 17 in 60). A valid argument could be made that Eller is worth more. As of now, his value is only greater to Montreal because Eller's contract is an extra year and Yak's boom potential. Hence why there's a pick added in.

IF there was a deal between the 2 clubs for Yakupov; it would be either Nathan Beaulieu or Fucale and a draft pick going the other way. The Oilers have a ton of forwards, and do not need to take on a constantly hurt, slow over paid Dman like Emelin. Lars Eller does nothing for the oilers; so unless you are giving 1 of the 2 above mentioned; its not happening.
