Vrbata at the time was the best option. It was JBs first swing of the bat. No regrets , he is changing the face of the team.

I fully expect Benning to be active with at least 2 x 5-6 mil contracts just like he did in his first year.

Goaltending is ok now so No need to explore that market.
I do expect them to make a push at a Dman , maybe Yandle 3 years.


I also look at a top 6 forward two year deal.
I also look at a cheaper two year deal for fourth line.

I had no problem with the Vrbata signing, he had a great first season with the club.

By the end of the first season, we knew there was something going on, like you said, something soured in the relationship. There was some friction, or at least a disconnect between the Sedins and Vrbata.

Looking back, it would have been the ideal time to move Vrbata, but you can understand why the club kept him, the same reason why they signed him, to score goals.

If JB can make the moves you suggest, we will at least be in the wild card hunt. I am okay with that as long as drafting and developing continues.

The year before Benning arrived this below was the roster, I bolded all the guys still here....there's a rebuild going on, but not in the tank-it kinda way! That's a lot of change in two seasons.
