I love the "we suck less than you do" arguments. And for the record I've participated in them...sadly. I got sucked in. - LeftCoaster
Oh yeah, we've all participated in it. It's like seeing homeless people fighting, it's sad.
As for the media, nobody rips on the Toronto sports media more than Leaf fans. I get that the coverage is so Toronto-centric, but it's just population demographics and the almighty dollar, the media need to sell eyeballs to advertisers and they know where they live. |

The problem is the people out west don't give a rats ass about Toronto demographics. I am sure a person in Red Deer hates it just as much as we do when the start of their game is delayed or moved while Blue Jay baseball goes to extra innings. |

Ya I know why they do it, we all do, I've personally just been dealing with CBC then TSN then Sportsnet shoving everything Toronto down my throat for far too long...damage done.
Now a days older & younger people on the West Coast can use so many other websites to get their non-bias sports news.
Anyways...good luck in your rebuild (not) |

Oh yeah, I get it man. I lived out west for a while. I got a taste of it, not just in sports coverage, the way many things are oriented around the eastern time zone can be frustrating. I'd like to see more regional, local media that serves their area first but things have gone the opposite way and that's unfortunate. |

That's a good point, the internet can provide things the big conglomerate media companies don't. |

Yeah but unless you are hooked up on fancy media set up at home you are watching on an IPad and have to deal with lagging.
It is unforgivable that the West doesn't have their own independent station. Sports radio out here has full fan following 24/7
I would honestly rather follow Jets TV Flames TV Oilers TV and Canucks TV in the summer than a feed from the East. |

Both seem like they're going to be very good players in the NHL Carol. For the Leafs, in their situation, I hope and don't doubt they will go Matthews. Only downside is we'll be cheering for a Yank - walshyleafsfan
What about the downside for Matthews? He will be in TO…

I don't care about missing out on Ehlers or Nylander at all.
I want Jake to bring it every shift and not take games off.
I want JB to give him a winger that has his back. McGinn might be a good winger with him. - VANTEL

I couldn't agree more, media mergers and the death of independent stations is brutal. Not just in sports of course, it's a crucial issue for local politics and communities. Even in Ontario, smaller towns and cities would benefit from strong local journalism and media and they don't have that at all. |

lol…no doubt.
Or when NHL post-games are cut short for a Blue Jays 2025 preview that no one gives a rats ass about.
And that whole Blue Jays are Canada's teams is such a joke. I grew up in the lower mainland cheering for the Mariners-Seahawks-Lions and Canucks.
So are the Raptors Canada's NBA team? Gimme a break...

McGinn would be a nice signing, going to be interesting to see what direction they go and if any free agents are willing to sign in Vancouver. |

Today we talk about the most embarrassing thing in Hockey.. |

Firstly, both players look great!
Secondly, because Matthews is a center I think he's the odds on favorite to go #1, smart teams build around centers and great defense. Toronto has never proven to be a smart organization, in my lifetime, thus far they've changed their approach to building under Shanahan, but they've proven nothing yet....I'll be watching to see how it turns out for them.
And just for the record, I hate all Toronto sports teams and their media outlets with a passion. Full disclaimer! I don't hate their fans, but I can't stand the teams. - LeftCoaster

They will want multi year NTCs so I hope Benning has the brains to stay away from them. That's exactly what franked Toronto over the years. |

Then don't sign him, I would rather be a crappy team for a couple more years and roll the dice in the draft lottery system. |
