The twins get a bad rap for not being able to fight. But I think it's too much to ask a top three scorer to fight their own battles. Call it old school but I don't want my best players spending 5 minutes per period in the box.
I want my big, mean Dman to get in between and start knocking out teeth. The same nasty disposition that clears the front of nets and makes skilled players think twice when flying across the blue line. I don't care if they can score.
And no to Lucic type players. I want tough hockey players... not meatheads. - bloatedmosquito

Old School in the "new" nhl.
So Scott Stevens, Chris Pronger types that just injured people because they played dirty.
Van already has a D that doesn't score.
When it comes to playoffs where getting in on the forecheck and laying the body on the other teams defence and wearing them down. The Sedins don't do that. I like the Sedins but when the going gets tough they are a passive, perimeter type players. |

Vancouver has 5 Dmen that all play the same type of defence. They try to position and defend. No teams pay a price for parking in front of our goalie or running the goalie. We don't have anybody that is an offence minded Dman . We need a back end threat.
Stop bringing in all the same type Dman and bring in some variety. |

I'd take a Pronger type in a heartbeat. He was great all around. |

Edler has improved his all round game but he is still an offensive Dman, just not an elite D. Tanev and Hamhuis were the only two players match your defensive positioning mold. Bart and Sbisa can skate and hit but certainly don't understand positioning. Hutton also is a puck moving offensive player.
Benning has tried to find D who provide other roles, he just hasn't been successful at finding them yet.

plus Tryamkin might be that player on the backend we've been looking for.
Big, mean, can clear the crease, great reach with that stick.
If he can develop a howitzer point shot...i'm just saying (don't want to jinx it!) |

They need to sell the product, albeit there is still hockey on. TO, WPG & EDM are on a marketing honeymoon right now, they are selling the fans leading up to the draft. Not sure that's happening here? |
